Long ago, the dungeons overflowed with the accursed, and the king commanded a contorted sentry to deliver those who had no cells to a faraway land, and to make certain they were never heard from again.

Scholar of the First Sin changed to:

The sentry crammed inmates of the overflowing Bastile onto a rickety ship, and cast them out to the open sea.

The majority of them drowned or starved, but a few hardy survivors made land to the south, and imparted their knowledge of sorcery to the people there.

Hints and Tips:

  • Upgraded with Petrified Dragon Bone to +5. Cannot be infused with Bleed.
  • Prior to Calibration 1.09, this weapon, when infused, didn't seem to lose physical damage and instead gains some bonuses to it as well as its bleed. However this is no longer the case.
  • It is recommended to infuse this weapon as it yields better Attack Ratings.
  • This hammer, and small hammers in general, are fantastic offhand in pvp when paired with a slower weapon with good reach.
  • Many players will attempt to roll backstab your spear/lance/halberd/greathammer/ultragreatsword/ect, but small hammer 1 handed strong attacks can be free aimed swiftly in any direction when lock on is disengaged and can be used to punish the roll bs attempt with a 180 degree turn and a one handed R2, R2 combo. Using small hammers in this way can dissuade roll backstab attempts and boost the viability of slower, roll bs prone weapons.
  • Recommended to try small hammers offhand if you find yourself being roll backstabbed in pvp due to a slower main weapon.

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.
The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].
This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".

Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.
Weight: How much the item weights when equipped.
Stability: How well the player keeps stance after being hit
Attack Type: Defines what kind of swing set the weapon has.
