Small Shields Strike / Spell Parry
Enchantable:
Yes/No
No Special

Cursed Bone Shield is a Small Shield in Dark Souls 2. Small Shields can be used not only to block an enemy but to parry their attack as well. This allows a riposte, a free attack by the player for a high amount of damage. Enemy attacks can be interrupted with a parry (pressing the Strong Attack button for the shield) and requires practice to learn the timing.

Acquired From:

  • Drops from Aldia Warlock found beyond the Hollow Door in Shrine of Amana. Above the Rise of the Dead bonfire, Near the Flame of Nito.
  • Drops from Merciless Roenna in Huntsman's Copse.
  • Scholar of The First Sin has moved the Aldia Warlock to Aldia's Keep. You can farm for this shield there. (Covenant of champions is recommended as this is usually very rare and you wont want the warlock to despawn)

Hints and Tips:

  • Can Deflect spells, the spell parry window is much larger than the normal parry window so is much easier to deflect spells with this shield than melee attacks. (spell parry is confirmed via spell parry animations.)
  • This shields defensive stats are all around very decent, but it does allow minor chip damage. As long as you're not turtling it is the perfect shield for light weight builds that need good defence and a good parry animation for pvp. The only con is that its hard to get due to rare drop of an npc bp. Have 6 character 2 of which are in NG+4 and 1/6 have it and he is in play 1

Warlock mask is an easy to get item. You can get it first drop (guaranteed in second play through or bonfire aesthetic) from the petrified lion warrior next to the red lion warrior at shaded ruins. once you unpetrifie him and kill him, he drops the mask. But this shield is very hard to get. I can’t manage to get this from the Aldia warlock at all. I know that they drop it but it’s difficult in sofTF. I think they made it require too much luck to get :(

In my grind for every single item this might be at the top of the worst grinds, for a bit of context I did the monastery grind before I knew this existed so my aldias keep area is at ng18 rn so my method for this is super scuffed... ontop of the fact that after I got the warlock mask in less then 10 kills ive been over 100 dry since...Pray for a brother before he goes hollow XD

Got it as a random drop from Roenna first time around. Theoretically I must have killed her 30 times or so considering all the playthroughs of characters for me to get this shield

First time I got this shield I farmed for 13 hours in shrine of amana on xbox 360 to get it. This week merciless roenna drops it randomly, thank you dark souls.

Got it after making a years of not playing. This shield is awesome. Low stability though, but high physical defense with high parry frames. Can't beat that

Ya'll are exaggerating I got it after the 11th run with Covetous+1, merchant hat, prisoner tatters, and watchdragon parma. Maybe I just got really lucky but if you're reading this it is possible.

                • Anonymous

alternatively just get 100% lightning resistance and 33% more stability with the watcher shield to outright block lightning spells instead of parrying
