Straight sword originating in Heide, A special alloy makes it very durable.

The composition of the alloy of these swords remains a mystery, but in Drangleic the attempt to imitate it resulted in the similar bradden steel. 

 

Acquired From

  • Dropped by Heide Knight sitting at the base of the tree, located at the top of the ladder shortly after the first Bonfire in The Forest of Fallen Giants (not there in Scholar of the First Sin).
  • Rare drop from one of the two red phantoms guarding the King's Door near The Place Unbeknownst Bonfire in The Forest of Fallen Giants in NG+ and above.
  • Dropped by any sword-wielding Heide Knight in NG (only in DX11 version) (can obtain multiple without Bonfire Ascetic or NG+)

 

Hints and Tips:

  • Upgraded with regular Titanite to +10.
  • Can be buffed with Sunlight Blade but not with resins.
  • One handed and 2-handed running attack uses Axe moveset.
  • One handed light attack is a vertical upward slash then downward slash. Heavy attack is a sideways slash and then a forward stab. This move set is shared with the Royal Dirk, Black Flamestone Dagger and Blue Flame (light attack only) .
  • Great starting weapon because of its lightning attributes. For STR/FAITH builds, this sword can carry you through most of the game.
  • Even though the scaling on the Lightning Heide Knight Sword +10 just shows a B, it is a lot higher than the generic B scaling of regular lighting infused weapons.
  • At +5 normal and with 40/40/10 str/dex/faith this weapon has an attack rating of 367: physical (150+105) , lightning (90+22). The second highest attack rating of any straight sword in the game with Blue Flame being higher.
  • The veritical pattern of one handed light attacks allows one to kill Crystal Lizards and the crawling Undead quickly.

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.
The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].
This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".

Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.
Weight: How much the item weights when equipped.
Stability: How well the player keeps stance after being hit
Attack Type: Defines what kind of swing set the weapon has.
