Lion Warriors

 

Phenomenally tough beast-men within the Shaded Ruins, armed with powerful axes and shields. Possessed of a fierce hatred of both humanity and the undead, they are both territorial and aggressive. Equipped with cursed battle axes, they can inflict curse status on an unfortunate undead in only a few swings, even through shields! They possess an incredibly strong resistance against magic of any kind; infused melee weapons will avail themselves little against these beasts, and they are highly resistant to both poison and bleeding. In exchange, however, they are somewhat vulnerable to physical damage, but their skill with both their axes and shields is daunting and they stand as some of the toughest foes one can face. The design on the shield appears to have some religious significance, but we will never know what sort of gods these warriors answer to.

Strategy tips
Type of character Tip
Physical The Lion Warriors have a very powerful physical attack. Their primary attack is a single diagonal strike. This strike is not able to be parried but it also leaves him immobile for a second allowing you to circle around and score a backstab. If you are having trouble backstabbing, block the attack and retaliate while he is immobile.
Casters Do not use magic against them, They are highly resistant to all types of magic and will split you in two before you can get your next spell off. Just as a physical fighter would, even a pure caster type can use a plain dagger to do 600 damage with a backstab.*
*Tested with 3 Strength and 7 Dex
Alternatively use yearn to distract and either backstab or cast spells freely (although it still takes quite a bit to take one down).
