Murakumo is a weapon in Dark Souls 2. The Murakumo, a curved greatsword, bears the legacy of a foreign warrior who brought this exceptional weapon to the land. Holding it with both hands unlocks the capability for parrying. Renowned for its solid physical damage and remarkable dexterity scaling, the Murakumo strikes a balance between strength and agility, making it an outstanding choice for those who value a versatile and powerful curved greatsword without compromising on speed.

A curved greatsword said to have been brought to this land by a foreign warrior.

Hold with both hands to make parrying possible. The exquisitely crafted wide blade makes deadly use of both its weight and smooth slicing action.

A tough training regimen is required to master this sword.

Hints and Tips:

  • Upgraded with regular Titanite to +10.
  • The parrying animation and window for the Murakumo is faster than almost any Great-sword. Making it an excellent off-hand weapon if you can get comfortable with the Southpaw.
  • The two-handed R2 deals heavy poise and stamina damage(if blocked) with a monstrous knock-back. It will knock-back and knockdown opponents ONLY on the 2h R2.
  • Trivia: It is believed to be a recurring weapon in From Software games, the name came from their early game "MURAKUMO", and appeared in Dark Souls before, wielded by Shiva of The East and obtainable from Giant Skeleton. It is also named after Kusanagi, a legendary sword from Japanese mythology, came from the tail of Yamato-no-Orochi (eight branched hydra). Also modeled after Zanbato/Zhanmadao, literally horse-cutting blade, it explained the reason of having a thick and long blade, the concept is simliliar to an oriental version of a Zweihander.
