Rebel's Greatshield is a GreatShield in Dark Souls 2. Greatshields can be used not only to block an enemy but allows player to do shield bash. (Great shields replaced parry ability with heavy shield bash)
Acquired From
- Treasure pickup guarded by the fire-breathing Salamander in the cave at the bottom of the gulch in the Forest of Fallen Giants.
Hints and Tips
- Statistically, this is the best shield in the game. It's total resistances are higher than any other shield (90% for each element), and infusing it with any elemental ore will give it 100% resistance to that element, while still retaining very high stats overall. Unfortunately it has the lowest phys. protection of all greatshields, and even the average small shield. Therefore it is best used in conjunction with a lighter 100% phys. shield (i.e. Royal Kite, Drangleic)

Infused with fire, very useful. Can't wait for NG+ to get a Dark one.
BTW at +10 I got a 96% PHY so it's fine, isnt'it ?

No wonder Raime lost to Velstatdt when his shield doesn't even have 100% physical defense

the best shield to easily overcome the shrine of Amana.
Infuse it with magic to get 100% protection and you can cover yourself from all the priestesses attacks making that area like a cheese
Pretty beautiful but Shield. The phys defense is a real bummer. For pve, the various resistances are way to unreliable. I want a 100% phys Shield, especially If its as heavy as this and cant parry. I can understand people using thisfor the magic etc resistances but i like to have a single shield and never switch it. Although aesthitaticalley i do consider it.
This shield got me through every magic-based encounter back in DS2's heyday I infused mine Dark for 100% resistance so Hexers were shutdown as well. Any other magical encounter was basically negligible because if I remember right it maintains 88.8% resist on every other element/ailment. This Shield is a Godsend!

Anyone else noticed that the shield depicts a 3-eyed raven? At first I thought it was a homage to Game of Thrones / A Song of Ice and Fire, kind of like the Dragonslayer Greataxe and Falcon Shield is a homage to The Wheel of Time, but found no such indication anywhere. The shield is one of the contest winners though, so no-one knows but the original designer. I just thought it kind of curious, that Raime who turned from king Vendrick and now waits in a cave deep underground as a protector of Nadalia (kind of like the Three Eyed Raven from Game of Thrones), used to carry a shield with a 3-eyed Raven.

Raime, and Velstadt were known as the left- and right-arms of the King, until their wills clashed, and Raime was deemed a traitor.
The black raven is despised as an augur of death, but it was Raime's favorite bird.
