Red Iron Twinblade is a weapon in Dark Souls 2.
"A twinblade with heavy blades on each end. More suited to smashing foes than slashing them. Requires a great deal of muscle to wield artfully.
The twinblade closely imitates the design of a foreign-made weapon that has the blades affixed to both ends of its hilt."
Acquired From
- Corpse in the Shrine Of Amana
Hints and Tips:
- The scaling has been increased from "always C" into "B to A" and the base attack rating has been significantly buffed from 180 to 340 with Regulation 1.08.
- Deals higher Poise damage than the other twinblades, and is also extremely durable.
- This twinblade has a different moveset than others in its class. Specifically, the two handed light attack moveset is different than most (rather than doing a 3-hit combo, it does one large swipe), and in general it's harder to land all of its multiple hits with (this is from anecdotal experience). On the plus side its one handed strong attack is a thrust with decent range followed by a swipe to side the weapon is equipped on. Although slightly slower and heavier than normal twinblades, the poise damage can cover up for the weakness on speed.
- Recommended to wear Stone Ring to increase Poise damage to max potential.

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.
The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].
This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.
Weight: How much the item weights when equipped.
Stability: How well the player keeps stance after being hit
Attack Type: Defines what kind of swing set the weapon has.

This is one of the rare "doesn't break after 5 hits" weapons. It's also perfect if you want to feel like you're using dex build, while still using a bonk build. Enchant for lightning regardless of your faith, and just go to town on 90% of the game. One of the best weapons in any souls game for real.

I never used twinblades until this one. I mean I never used them since, and I refuse to use any other. This thing is so awesome

For when you want to shred your enemies down to the last atom.

Me before:
Oh nah, I ain't using twin blades breh.
Me once I got this weapon:
*invader shows up* Me: Now we can do this the easy way(he falls off the map), or we can do it the hard way(Equips the twin blade in both hands). The choice is yours.

I was doing a STR build and was having a generally bad time with Ultra Greatswords. Got tired of it and made this weapon 10+, life has never been easier since

my personal #1 weapon ever, great moveset, amazing damage and decent scaling, good endurance and finally it looks cool IMO. its cons are its shortish range, late game (or mid game? idk where that pit of hell sits in game progression), slowest weapon of its class. its kinda like the executioners greatsword of DS2, its decent but everyone has a better weapon.

good weapon but a shame its so late in game and you have to go through H E L L to get it

Though put into "Twinblades" category, this weapon falls into its own unique category. Its moveset is completely different to other Twinblades. This weapon is probably THE BEST one for PvE 1-h+shield playstyle. It has very high damage when infused, has tracking (unlike those clunky heavy weapon), often scores headshots, is durable as ****, and second R1 can deal 1.5 times the normal damage, if it connects 3 times (happens often to big enemies). Sure, it has same drawbacks - it's quite heavy, attacks cost quite a lot of stamina and reach isnt high, but that's nothing for a thing, that cleaves through all foes like a hot knife through butter. Try it, it's worth it indeed.

This thing is basically the splitleaf of the twinblades right?

The only weapon which can slay dragon Sinh without being broken. In the ng it had 95/175 durability, ng+ 35/175, ng++ 31/175 tested with bonfire ascetic.

I was wearing vengarl armor while i found this weapon and i thought wow perfect match so besides looking cool this weapon does a dencent amount a damage 9.5/10 would recommend .

The durability is listed as 90 and that is definitely incorrect. It’s upwards of around 175 I do believe.. Huge difference.

Is there any reason why this twinblade in particular seems to have a substantially higher AR than the rest of it's class? Talking like 100-200 difference in attack damage

Don't you love it when people use this buffed and R1 spam you to death then think they're hot ****?
C'mon man, it's like using an ice rapier and stone ring and calling R1 spam skill
Now get over here and get spear shanked

People that use this weapon in the dueling arena should be shot on sight.
I used this thing to beat the game w/ the champion covenant and shred the DLC bosses (w/out the champion covenant). I used RoB+1 and Flynn's Ring for the extra damage. But I will say that the moveset sucks big time. The second two-handed R1 has 3 hit boxes, but usually I can only land 2 of them. Also the late game location makes it mostly only good for later game, DLC's, and NG+.

With this on my right hand my char runs like thanos :O (surprised pikachu face)

Just got this weapon, new to the game, everyone told me it's the best weapon. I like it so far, but I think it's pretty stupid that it does not have dex scaling, given you need 20 dex to wield and one would think that it would take quite a bit of athletic dexterity to use. I like it, but in DS2 it seems that everything pushes you into a strength build in the end. That is not the case in the first or the third installment of this series. I'm just sayin

this weapon is ****ing insane, look at the damage, you just need to spin it like 2 round and easy do like over 1000 damage easy, and its freaking fast, forget the highest damage weapon one hit, those took forever to wield, this is the true most damage weapon damage you can get in ds2

Everyone I talked to about this weapon recommended infusing with lightning and adjusting stats for high faith for scaling and to use sunlight blade. I hear it then puts out one of the highest damage outputs in the game. Is that an actual fact, or just more opinion?

Is it possible to get this weapon early in the game? Is there a way to speed run there or will I need keys/or beat certain bosses to get there?

Infuse w/ dark on Quality Hex build and buff with Dark Weapon, melts PvE and unless someone is fully invested blocking dark melts PvP

No doubt; the best twinblade in DS2. I'm so sad that they didn't carry this weapon class into DS3.
