Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.
The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].
This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.
Weight: How much the item weights when equipped.
Stability: How well the player keeps stance after being hit
Attack Type: Defines what kind of swing set the weapon has.

This weapon is fantastic in PvP, especially for punishing Estus chuggers during invasions or picking off a host’s phantoms. I use this on an SL 155 Hex build invading around SM tiers 34+. Dark infused, with 16/16 Strength/Dexterity and 30/30 Intelligence/Faith plus the Dark Clutch Ring I’m regularly hitting hosts I invade for 800-1200 dark damage with this weapon’s special Dark Orb attack, depending on their dark defense. With dark crossbow bolts, regular shots hit for 200-300 damage on average.
Invaded hosts nearly always run and chug when at half health or lower, so I keep this weapon in the 2nd slot of my main hand, give them space when they’re at low health to bait them into attempting to heal, and when they inevitably do, I quickly switch to it and fire the special Dark Orb attack. It kills them nearly every time because the burst damage is too high for Estus healing alone to compensate.
The speed of the Dark Orb special attack seems similar to the spell itself, but the hitbox is MUCH larger. It explodes into a small area, perhaps around the same size as a Fire Orb or Great Fireball. I’ve seen it damage multiple phantoms standing right next to each other. It seems to hit through walls or around corners to a limited degree as well. I’ve had chuggers run behind a wall while I was firing the Dark Orb at them, and when it hit the wall and exploded they still took the damage and died.
There also seems to be some poise or hyperarmor on the special attack once you’ve reached a certain point in the firing animation. I’ve poised through a two-handed strong attack from a Zweihander with the special attack with a poise score of less than 10.
Many players seem unfamiliar with the roll timing for the Dark Orb attack, too. Even just spamming it can easily catch people off guard and deal heavy damage or kill them outright.
I wanted to make a low level Hex invader for maxing out the Bell Keepers covenant. I’d planned to use Great Resonant Soul to punish chuggers or hosts who summoned help. Soul Memory makes that really tough, if not impossible to do. So I decided to use staff hexes and the special Dark Orb attack from the Sanctum Crossbow instead. Sure enough, the special Dark Orb attack is more effective than Great Resonant Soul at this low level, and it doesn’t cost any souls to use. It practically one-shots hosts with just 15/15 Int/Faith and dark infusion.

So lame it takes off 10 durability just to cast dark. Some of the QOL decisions in this game is mind boggling. Did they try to make it as not fun as possible?

When the wiki states 53 int + faith, does that mean 53 int and also 53 faith? If so, that'd only be viable end game...

I feel like this weapon can benefit hexers as well, even if they can do fine with Dark Orb. But still, hexes require a lot of attunement slots, so having this to free up for more spells would be good.

Does dark scaling apply to every shot? Wondering in case I could pull good damage with a dark gem and dark bolts
- Anonymous
it´s a pretty cool weapon, specially to kill dudes with a one shot

Can't seem to be able to increase the attack power of the special attack with either the Blue Dagger, Abyss Seal, or Black Witch Domino Mask. Thought I'd test Ring of Blades and Flynn's also for the sake of it, but unsurprisingly, no change. Perhaps it is only the Dark Clutch Ring that helps.

Is this good backup weapon for Int character with 10 faith? If so is it better with dark infusion for special or uninfused for bolt shooting? Or maybe(not likely) enchanted?
I may be out of dark orb, but I am not out of options
