Soul of the Lost Sinner is a consumable Boss Soul item in Dark Souls 2 (DKS2). The Soul of the Lost Sinner represents the essence of the imprisoned figure found in Sinners' Rise. The Lost Sinner, in perpetual atonement for past sins, can bestow 25,000 Souls when consumed. Additionally, you have the option to trade this soul with Weaponsmith Ornifex to acquire the Lost Sinner's Sword. Boss Souls are materials used to trade for unlocking various upgrades and abilities, spells, as well as for crafting unique equipment. These Boss Souls are obtained by defeating the various Bosses of the game.

AnonymousCan I pop this soul for money or a boss weapon and still beat the game, or do I have to have it in my inventory at the appropriate point? Don’t want to bonfire ascetic if I don’t have to!

do i need the actual soul in order to open the door in shaded woods
In case someone in still wondering to this day if you need this and the other Boss souls, the answer is no. You can use every single soul you get in the game and you'll be able to progress into the Shrine of Winter just fine.
