Ultra Greatswords in Dark Souls II are a type of Weapon that's sluggish and heavy, being the largest types of weapon in the game, but can offer high damage output in each swing. Due to their immense size and weight, it is one of the few weapon categories that can take advantage hyper armor, indicating that Poise is a must for these weapons. Ultra Greatswords can also deal high poise damage, making every attack stagger your opponent very easily. The weight of Ultra Greatswords can put players at a disadvantage as it requires them to invest large amounts of Endurance, Strength, and Vitality, the last one being the most important as the player swings an Ultra Greatsword weapon, it can almost likely leave them open for a counter-attack. The vertical swinging Ultra Greatswords like the Greatsword (Guts Sword) and the Fume Ultra Greatsword are so damn satisfying to swing for me, the way the animation looks showing how much weight and strength you put into it slamming down the massive blade and the satisfying cleaving sound they make when they hit something as well the way their swings make a big WOOSH most of the time is just pure ecstasy to me, sure the horizontal swinging ones are pretty satisfying too, but I've always found the vertical swinging UGS's especially fun to use.

I'm a UGS main which is why DS2 is my favorite due to weapon selection
There's only like what, 4 interesting UGS in DS3 (RKPUGS, Profaned, Farron, Lorian's)

I just realized that more then half are boss weapons. Only one is upgraded with twinkling titanite

Do you ever think that someone will read this comment I'm writing, maybe in June of 2024, maybe 2025 since the thread is inactive, and that I could be dead? I could be struck dead by any means and you guys won't know, I won't be remembered, I'll just of been a comment, anonymous, on a ds2 wiki. My steam User ID is "Josoveys" and sometimes I change my name to "J". My psn is "SinPrayRepeat" and I would like to say that I'm not just another comment. If you are stuck I will summon thru ur whole game, I will drop any armour you need, or I willl buy you lifegems. My favourite area is Heide's tower of flame and when i was 13 I spent over 20hrs there (live streamed) and farmed until I had 100% of the items that both the old giants, and the knights, drop - I called the knights "Larry" and I have infected my friends to call them the same. Have a good life whoever you are, and pull yourself out of that pit we are all sometimes falling into - find the light brother, be a Bradley (of the old guard).
