Dyna and Tillo are an NPCs in Dark Souls 2. Dyna and Tillo are a pair of crows who reside in a nest in the Lost Bastille. They are known as “The Crows of the Outskirts” and players can trade certain items with them by dropping them into their nest. In return, the crows will sometimes give the player rare or valuable items. This trading mechanic adds an element of unpredictability and discovery to the game, as players must experiment with different items to see what the crows will offer in return.

Dyna and Tillo Information in Dark Souls 2

“You! You! Give us Smooth! Yes! You! Give us Silky!”
Give them something silky and smooth.

Twin sisters residing in the ancient forest. Though they never show themselves to humans, and their true forms remain unknown, Dyna and Tillo are enamored of all things silky smooth and will cheerfully call out to passersby in hopes of adding new trinkets to their collection.

Dyna and Tillo reside in the bird's nest on the cliff just past the Fire Keeper's Dwelling Bonfire in Things Betwixt. To reach them you must enter the first Fog Gate on the left and proceed along that path until you exit through another Fog Gate onto a ledge. The nest is directly to the left, adjacent to a ladder which can be kicked down to allow an easy return. To trade an item to Dyna and Tillo, simply drop it in their nest using the “Leave” option (do not select “Discard” or you will permanently lose the item without placing it on the ground). If the sisters accept what you have offered them, the trade will take effect immediately and the item you left will be instantly replaced with the one you are given in return; there is no need to quit to the title screen as in previous Souls games. Dyna and Tillo do not offer fixed rewards for specific items and instead will randomly select a reward from their list regardless of what they received from you; however trading them a Petrified Something has the highest chance of yielding more valuable results such as Titanite Slabs, Petrified Dragon Bones, and the Demon's Great Hammer. Also, you can only drop one of the specified items at a time otherwise the birds will say “No, no not like that” regardless of whether it was a correct item or not. You don't need to pick up items before dropping a new one, you just drop multiple stacks of a single item, and they all get traded at the same time.

  • They squawk and sound like Snuggly the crow from Dark Souls 1 and Sparkly the crow from Demon Souls that you could trade with.
  • Depending on what you offer increases your chance to receive a higher tier item, although it is entirely possible to receive any item from any of the below lists. All the information here was taken from the official guide, though likely needs to be adjusted based on testing.
  • You can drop all your stones without opening the menu to speed up the process, but if you drop stacks of items Dyna & Tillo will reject them.
  • When trading large amounts of trading items (20 or more) at a time, the frame rate can drop significantly (on consoles). As such, it is advised to trade a maximum of ten items at a time.

Dyna and Tillo Encounters in Dark Souls 2

You can find them in Things Betwixt. From the bonfire outside the Old Firekeepers house, head towards Majula. Take the first fog door on the left and bear left. You will eventually come across the nest. Be sure to knock the ladder down to create a shortcut.

Dyna and Tillo Dialogue

— Everytime the player passes over the nest area and when standing idle over it:
Dyna: “You, you, give us smooth”
Tillo:“Yes, you, give us silky”

When given something that is valid:
Dyna: “Yah, yah, so nice, so smooth”
Tillo: “Yah, yah, silky smooth”

Smooth and Silky Stones can actually drop the demon's great hammer. It's happened to me twice. Unfortunately, I can't provide proof, but if small smooth and silky Stones can drop it I don't see why the regular variant can't.

I didn't find this until like 70 hrs into the game and had many many stones to drop. Walked away with x3 of the demon hammers, a channeling trident, and I now have over 50 twinkling titanite, 15 slabs, and 22 petrified dragon bones.

        • Anonymous

I gave them a petrified something for the first time today and they dropped a titanite slab. I feel like the luckiest man alive at the moment.

          • I received a Titanite Shard, as well as an Amber Herd for Prism Stones. All I dropped were Prism Stones, so I am not mistaken. The droprate is likely mega low for them.

STOP INTERRUPTING ME JUST TO SCREAM FOR MORE SILK STONES, I WAS LITERALLY ABOUT TO JUST DROP MORE YOUR SQUEAKY LITTLE TURDS

              • Anonymous

I got a Soul of a Lost Undead from Smooth and Silky Stone. This should be added to the Offerings and Corresponding Tier Rewards.

wait, how did people found their name,I have almost 800 hours and I still didnt find where to know their name

                  • Anonymous

Picked petrified something for starting on a whim and got channelers trident first try. Now to grind for three months so I can use it.

Smooth and silky stone (not small) got me a titanite chunk too.

Btw, how is something considered low tier when it gets you titanite chunks, which are exceedingly rare and required for fully upgrading equipment??

If you're trying to break Santier Spear, aim for the nest with 1h r2 attacks. If both connect you lose 6-12 durability each time. Very quickly breaks the head off with no risk but falling If you roll too far lol

Honestly whoever thought up the random rewards needs a kik in a nuts. Trying to get ore good for your current build through the ssmall silky stone is a nightmare

I've been calling them Pickle-Pee and Pump-a-Rum for years and only realised in an old Vaati video what their actual names were.

Suggested addition to this page: I read on the Rusted Coin entry that using rusted coins increases the chance to get good items from these two. Not sure if it's true. If it is true, you should add that. Also, if using a rusted coin DOES increase the odds for good items, that also might mean that item discovery gear in general boosts your luck here.

If you are trying for a specific build you can always save scum. Start with petrified something > save and quit at the nest before dropping it > copy save file to another location > drop Petrified something. If you get the item you are done. If you don't get the item quit copy your backed up file over the save file, load back up, and try again and again and again until you get it.

If you want to speed up the tedious process of going through the menus to get to the right item, put all your items in the item box

i finally got a petrified something and trade it to them... ONLY TO GET ANOTHER *****ING SLAB. WHY CANT I GET SOMETHING GOOD LIKE THE TRIDENT OR DEMON'S GREATHAMMER?

player: "here's a literal rock" D&T: "nice. here's the hammer from an ancient demon who lived very long ago in a land very far away"

They get a different dialogue that's not written on this wiki. It happens when you leave an amount of 2 or more items that they are asking for or simply dropping items they aren't asking for.

Titanite Slabs are way too common. I'm nearly halfway through this game and already got five of them from these guys.

                                              • Anonymous

I got both the trident and the whip from a small and silky stone. Luck, I guess.

Disappointed with the durability on the Trident, however.

Whether I use a petrified, large, or small stone I seem to have a 50% chance to get a demons great hammer. Halfway through the game and I have about 15 demon hammers.

I wish that there were concrete rewards tied to what you dropped them. Got my fourth Titanite Slab in a row now when I could really use a Petrified Dragon Bone or a Titanite Chunk

                                                    • Anonymous

How would people know the crows names ? If their names are never said in any dialogue then how were they figured out ?

                                                      • Anonymous

"You can drop all your stones without opening the menu to speed up the process"

How is that meant? So if I have 15 Stones, I can drop every one separate before I pick up the rewards? I like to get the rewards, but dropping every single Stone with opening the menu again and again is a bit frustrating...

                                                        • Anonymous

What if you used items boosting your luck while dropping the stones, like rusty coin and I'm not aware of any other luck-boosting items. I wonder if the drop rate of rarer materials will be higher.

                                                          • Is it possible that this is how item discovery works? I've wondered that for a while and it seems that each item has a drop rate tier. Maybe some items become more rare with increased discovery rate.

                                                            • Anonymous

I found that you can trade many more stones when playing on console by panning the camera so it isn't showing the nest and the stone particles. I've been able to drop like 30 with no problem
