Patch Notes in Dark Souls 2 (DKS2) contain notable changes and updates to the game and its mechanics that developers implement both before and after launch. Some patches tweak online connectivity, whilst others completely change the game's balance or add new content that is intended for DLC use. Patches and updated are released and intended to improve a player's experience in the game, or add content and playability. This is also where any found bugs or glitches are fixed and removed. As Patches and updates are released, developers will release a set of Patch Notes for players to view all the recent changes. Below is a list of released Dark Souls 2 Patch Notes.

On Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Steam (DirectX 9), Steam (DirectX 11):

  • Fixed issue whereby weapon durability was decreased drastically when used on enemy corpses, friendly characters, etc. (Especially apparent for users running the game at 60 fps as the durability decrease rate was linked to the frame rate).
  • Fixed issue whereby actions requiring both button and stick controller input (Jump Attack, Guard Break) were not properly registering in-game.


On Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Steam (DirectX 11):

  • Fixed issue whereby summoning sign was displayed in Drangleic Castle and Throne of Want even though the player had defeated all bosses in the area.
  • Fixed issue whereby the moment of death replay for some blood stains weren’t being displayed online.
  • Fixed issue whereby client side may hang during the event movie for Laddersmith Gilligan in Earthen Peak.
  • Fixed issue whereby the Host may not be able to load their save data after stopping the game while waiting for matching to complete in online mode.


On Xbox One:

  • Fixed issue whereby game may quit suddenly if player pauses the system during online multiplayer.
  • Fixed issue whereby game may leave online multiplayer if the user pauses the system during online play then starts the game again.
  • Fixes issue whereby the game may hang if the user goes back and forth between different maps over and over again.
  • Fixed issue whereby the host may not return to normal offline play as intended when their network connection is cut off during online multiplayer.


On Steam (DirectX 9):

  • Fixed issue whereby, when playing online, it may appear that the player is sliding forward because the walking motion animation is not being displayed properly.

A quick update has been applied to the PS3 and Steam versions of Dark Souls II addressing the following issues -

  • Issue where attacks dealing heavy damage were doing more than intended on the 2nd or 3rd play through.

This update will roll out to the Xbox 360 version on the first week of March.


Dark Souls 2 Patch 1.10

This is the Scholar of the First Sin patch for Xbox, PS3 and DX9 versions of the game. The re-release with all the DLCs will have some extra features NOT ADDED on this patch.

  • Choosing to enter the Covenant of Champions will now allow enemies to continue to respawn after being defeated.

  • Players will gain access to a new item: The Agape Ring. When players equip the new Agape Ring, souls collected from kills during online play will be absorbed by the ring rather than the player. This allows players to control their online matchmaking experience by limiting their total souls collected.
  • Increased effect of Rusted Coin.
  • Awestones now dropped more often.
  • The bonfire warp selection screen will now highlight the top three areas where players will have the best chance to connect with other players online.
  • White phantoms will remain in other players’ worlds for longer periods of time.

  • In Grand Cathedral, made it possible to still receive the item you are supposed to get when talking to Alsanna, Silent Oracle even if your inventory is full.
  • At the Ending, if the player has fulfilled the conditions to receive Illusory Ring of a Conqueror and Illusory Ring of the Exalted but their inventory is full, made it possible to receive the rings properly. (Players will receive the rings as soon as space is opened in their inventory.)

  • The Effect of Unleash Magic lasts now for two minutes instead of one although nothing is mentioned about this in the Patch Notes

  • Bug Fix: Resolved an issue where Shrine of Winter doors would not open even after satisfying the conditions, blocking progression.
  • Bug Fix: Resolved an issue where players would become unable to trade items with others.
  • Bug Fix: Resolved an issue where external parties from co-op such as dark spirits could obtain items in the world of the host
  • Bug Fix: Resolved an issue where in some areas players would not be able to see or retrieve their bloodstains upon returning


Soul Geyser was nerfed to half damage, longer casting speed, and increased stamina expenditure.

Multiplayer

  • Failing to create Multiplayer session no longer disables use of online items, such as White Soapstone.
  • Players now receive a small portion of Humanity after successfully assisting in a Multiplayer session instead of regaining full Humanity.
  • Starting boss fight with the Looking Glass Knight while summoning other players no longer cancels the summoning process.
  • Fixed an issue that prevented some bloodstains, illusions, and messages from being displayed.
  • Fixed an issue where “Unable to participate in Multiplayer Session” could constantly appear.
  • Fixed some instances where the portrait of the person you were summoning was different than the actual character.

  • Fixed an issue causing some enemies being hit by arrows at long distances receive 0 damage.
  • Fixed an issue preventing the Brotherhood of Blood duels from starting properly.
  • Added a message for players that displays after entering the coffin in Things Betwixt
  • Fixed an issue where all of the items and objects in an area would reset (Without using a Bonfire Ascetic).
  • Fixed an issue that didn’t unlock some items from vendors on 2nd and beyond playthrough.
  • Fixed an issue causing the requirements for the Brotherhood of Blood Covenant be 50 too high.
  • Licia’s conditions for moving have been optimized.

        Can u fix the summon sign connection on ps4. All of a sudden I can't summon anyone but NPCs. my friend can see me just fine. my sign shows up within a minute. I'm even using guidance but all to no avail. Heard other people are having this issue, please patch. Would like to play but currently this is unplayable. I'm only playing with my friend and would like to see this game to the end.

          I updated my dark souls 2 ans played on my mail character about 80 hours is it possible to delete patches and play before soul geyser nerfs on my main character? I tried deleteing downloaded patches but then i couldnt play on character created on newest patch.
