Astrologist is an enemy in Dark Souls 2 (DKS2). Astrologists, retaining a semblance of humanity, possess the ability to cast Promised Walk of Peace with high frequency. Notably, they can also perform substantial healing for themselves and nearby allies, demonstrating a unique proficiency in both offense and support. Enemies have their own behavior and unique attacks, killing enemies provide various drops that reward players with items and souls.
Astrologist Information in Dark Souls 2
Enemies wearing Black Hollow Mage Hood and Astrologist's Set, carry Cleric's Parma. They tend to hinder the Chosen Undead with Profound Still or Promised Walk of Peace, if they're getting too close, they'll cast Blinding Bolt and Sunlight Spear at close range.
In theory, they're believed to be the Drangleic Mages located at Huntsman's Copse before hollowing (Black Hollow Mages served Old Iron King while White Hollow Mage served either Duke Tseldora or Lord Aldia), however this is not the case, since Black Hollow Mages are tended to be female, while the Astrologists are actually male characters.

DS2 Astrologist Notes & Tips
- Can also heal himself and nearby enemies for a very large amount of HP.
- These enemies have somehow retained their humanity.
- Casts Promised Walk of Peace very frequently.
- Weirdly enough, despite clearly holding Caitha's Chime, which can only cast Hexes, they cast Miracles with it as well.
- Defeated Astrologers will subtract 18 seconds from the duration of a co-op session. See Online for more detailed information about Multiplayer Time Limits.

easily the worst enemy in the game. “what if we made an enemy that makes you unable to attack and also heals every other enemy”

More evidence of B-team just bullshitting their way through the game development process. I doubt they're connected to the hollow mages in-game in any way, they simply wear those hoods because the level designer thought it'd be neat.

These mages are cancer. They are singlehandedly the reason why iron keep is the DLC that's least finished.

They don't feel like they really belong in Iron Passage. Why be there, even in human form?
