Type Attribute
Effect Attribute governing number of spells that can be attuned and the number of casts per spell. Also boosts spell casting speed, agility and curse resistance.

Attunement is an Attribute in Dark Souls 2. Attunement determines your character's attunement slots, casts per spell, and casting speed. Attributes can be increased by assigning points into them when Leveling Up.

 

Attunement Information

Attunement is an attribute governing number of spells that can be attuned. Boosts spell casting speed.

  • Raises attunement slots: See table. Maxed at 75.
  • Raises maximum stored casts: See table. Starts at 10, max at 94.
  • Raises Casting speed
  • Raises curse resistance
  • Raises Agility
  • Slightly increases HP for each point: +2 HP (0-20), +1 HP (21-50), +0 HP (51-99)
  • The Bandit begins with the lowest Attunement at 2 and the Sorcerer starts with the highest Attunement at 12.
  • Each spell seems to get more charges at a particular amount of attunement points based on the amount of casts it starts off with. For example, a spell that starts with 8 casts can rise to a maximum of 15 casts, while a spell with 2 casts can rise to a total of 5.
  • The table below is accurate for MOST (~90% of) spells. (pre-SotFS)
    • This table needs to be updated to reflect the current patch version and/or SotFS edition. Multiple spells show additional casts between lvls 75 and 79. More research necessary.
  • There are multiple soft caps (meaning "the best amount of pts for the value") for attunement:
    • 20 & 30 are the softcaps for attunement slots; recommended value for using enhancement and/or healing spells (ex: magic barrier, sunlight blade, heal, great heal, etc.).
    • 50 is the softcap for total spell charges added; recommended value for using offensive spells (any spell that directly deals damage like Soul Arrow & Lightning Spear
  • There are two items that increase the number of attunement slots separate from the attunement stat.
    • The Southern Ritual Band gives 1, 2, 3 extra slots at +0, +1, and +2.
    • The Black Witch Hat gives one additional slot.
      • Although it has a 20 intelligence requirement, this is only for the defensive stats not the attunement.
  • There are another three items that increase the number of spell charges.

The attunement numbers shown are the numbers at the point an extra slot is added, NOT the number when an extra cast will be added.

      Im SOTFS I get extra spells going from 30 to 32 Attunement, including soul spear (3) and flame swathe (3).

        Do you need more slots to use a spell more? Say if I bought lightning bolt twice, do I need two slots to use 6 times? Or the same one slot and I just get extra uses?

          SOTFS at 20 attunement, I received no extra charges on 10 and 15-cast spells, Great Soul Arrow and Great Heavy Soul Arrow

            Keep in mine that this table is mainly for spell slots. It's just showing how many casts you'll have by the time you reach that attunement. You'll usually get the additional casts along the way. For instance, I distinctly remember going from 5 casts for dark weapon to 6 at 43 attunement.

              Wow... confirmed, from 93 to 94 attunement, crystal soul spear gains that last cast. I couldn't believe they would do that to us O_o guess I'll be leaving attunement at magic number 94 indefinitely then.

                There is a spell use upgrade at 33 ATN: 8 use spells get 10, 4 use spells get 5, 3 use spells get 4, 10 use spells get 13. Tested using Sorceries.

                  This is incorrect for softs. Somewhere between 31-35 attunement i got one more cast on my soul arrow. Also, despite currently being at 52 attunement, i still only have 4 casts of soul spear

                    at attunement level 33, I got 1 more cast with 2 and 3 initial cast spells for 3 and 4 casts. I didn't notice about others... they might have an addition cast or not. (Steam PC version, SotFS, latest version)
