Butcher's Knife is a weapon in Dark Souls 2.
An oddly large butcher's knife.
Not your standard weapon, but certainly deadly enough to be utilized as one.
Absorbs the HP of foes.
Who in their right mind would create such a thing?
Perhaps it is best not to dwell on how it was likely used in the past.
Effects: HP absorb
Acquired From
- Weaponsmith Ornifex, traded for the Soul of the Rotten and 5,000 souls.
Hints and Tips:
- Reinforced with Petrified Dragon Bone to +5.
- Has regular axe R1s but unique R2s both one handed and two handed. Curiously, when powerstanced it applies a powerstanced greatsword moveset rather than an axe or greataxe moveset.
- Has a unique one handed strong attack that looks similar to a lesser version of the plunging attack which can be used to generate impressive hit combos vs fleeing opponents.
- The Butcher's Knife restores HP equal to 8% of the damage dealt by the weapon.
- The shape of the Butcher's Knife may suggest that the axe type sweetspot doesn't apply to it, but it does in fact (axes do maximum damage at a certain range and less at any other range). But due to the fact that the weapon is quite long for a "light" axe, it's quite hard to hit outside the optimum range (only by hitting with the tip of the Butcher's Knife).

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.
The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].
This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.
Weight: How much the item weights when equipped.
Stability: How well the player keeps stance after being hit
Attack Type: Defines what kind of swing set the weapon has.

I see complaints about the weapon. What if I'm trying to have a recovery/health regen build while power stancing 2 of these?

Would anyone be willing to gift one to a SL 800,000 toon on XB1 by chance?

dear god, dont infuse this weapon, i thought this **** would be a bass cannon on my str hexer only to be massively disappointed when a dark bandit axe dealt better damage.
You can stack the effect with the wicked eye greatshield and a ring of the evil eye +1 (or higher) for some pretty good level sustain.
This weapon when dual wield doesn't follow the typical combo axes, hammers do with multiple hits. Instead it works like a greatsword. Literally a disappointment of a weapon on damage aspect, it gets outdamaged by weapons with 25% its weight.

pros:
very long range. its light attack has a range of "Ultra greatsword",with the swing speed of "greatsword"; longer than normal "axe";
hight poise damage in "axe" group
can leech a little
cons:
low durability,not very low though
heavy
no counter attack
sum:
if you want a slash weapon with great hitbox/moveset ,this is really good.
you easily clear a lot of small mobs by large area swing
you kill tough mobs by 40 poise damage
you kill boss by good by large area swing (unlocking),you indeed hit with every hit

This thing seems to be way too heavy for its damage. Comparing it to let's say Pursuer's Greatsword 390/18, here we have: 280/16... wtf? I feel like this thing should weight 10 (at most) or something.

My use of the weapon showed that the healing effect can be quite effective with immolation active in pvp as it combats the self damage effect
