*When infused: 175 physical dmg/175 elemental dmg and B scaling with chosen element.
Craftsman's Hammer is a weapon in Dark Souls 2.
An old smithing hammer.
Looks like a typical hammer, but is in fact incredibly sturdy. Some say it was the hammer used long ago by a famed blacksmith of yore.
Acquired From
- Chest behind Steady Hand McDuff in his Lost Bastille secret room. Light the sconce in his workshop then rest at the bonfire to get him to move peacefully.
Hints and Tips:
- Upgraded with Twinkling Titanite
- Cannot be infused with Bleed.
- 1-Handed regular attacks are like those of Axes
- Trivia: The design suggests a relation to the original Dark Souls smith: Andre of Astora.
- High base damage, high Counter damage, and high durability for the weapon class, but requires Twinkling Titanite.

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.
The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].
This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.
Weight: How much the item weights when equipped.
Stability: How well the player keeps stance after being hit
Attack Type: Defines what kind of swing set the weapon has.

I use this thing on every character. Even if you have to 2h it to meet requirements, it will serve you well. Put some twinkles into it early and make Iron Keep and Heide a breeze. It's also very good for the Ruin Sentinels you can fight shortly after getting it, and countless other things, really there are a ton of strike-weak enemies.

I like how in Dark Souls 1 this weapon wasn't bad but mediocre compared to the other hammers which made sense since it's a smithing tool, not a weapon, yet for some reason this dinky simple smithing hammer is really deadly in this game and stronger than some full-blown Maces and Warhammers, totally makes sense

I'm not sure why I love this thing so much, I used it my entire playthrough, although I did end up using a Zweihander along with it. This thing is great, would strongly recommend.

This beauty stayed with me from the beginning till the platinum. As soon as i got to NG+ I made sure to pick another one up to powerstance them.
So, so good.

Best easy to access weapon in the entire game IMO . You don't even need to know what a counter is to kill enemies like the ruin sentinels in 2-4 hits.
- Anonymous
the most OP early game weapon for a strength build periodt. You can upgrade it immediately to + 1 and its infusable with everything but bleed, ****ing forget about it, destroys everything

I like to use this 2-h to kill crystal lizards because it's good at hitting stuff on the floor.

funny how this weapon isnt seen as broken with its after R1+R1+R2 combo always catching people off guard in pvp not forgetting to mention that a pure STR+VIT build makes you a god

This is my second time playing ds2 and I forgot how wonderful this weapon is, and you can get it relatively early. I like how it actually staggers, unlike other bigger weapons
A must have

Most fun I’ve ever had in this game is power standing this and the other Blacksmith Hammer. Deals enough damage to make your head spin. Besides, shields are for pussies.

This weapon is basically a direct upgrade to the Mace; it has a better moveset, higher counterhit strength, higher durability, and is 1 weight unit lighter. The only tradeoffs are that the Craftsman's Hammer does marginally less damage than the Mace, and upgrades using Twinkling, which is relatively rare when you get the weapon.

This weapon counter damage and high strike damage makes it deal DAMAGE so high it's insane. Heide old knights get literally killed in 2 hits

i was constantly stuck at ruin sentinels, because i can't fight with the bastard sword that well. then i tried this hammer, made it +1 for fun, and totally destroyed them. one R1 combo took half their health, and staggered them so i had time to dodge their next attack. if you are goiung for a strength build, consider this weapon.

This weapon is actually really good for a strength build I’ve beaten the game with it

<----- n00b with my 1st post. I just want to make sure that the str scaling stays at a B when you infuse this hammer with magic/fire/etc. This seems like a very rare thing if it is the case. Also... yes I am trying to "git gud" :Þ

Something drew me to this hammer during my first play through and it's been with me ever since, fully upgraded. It is an awesome weapon and tends to stunlock enemies.

The thing literally tears through everything I put it up against. Everything with armor is a joke.

The chest you find the Craftman's Hammer in also holds 1 Twinkling Titanite, so you can immediately get McDuff to upgrade the weapon to +1. Get it early (beat Pursuer to reach the Bastille and McDuff) for cheap kills until Drangleic Castle. Light, high durability, fast attacks and pretty much mauls anything wearing armour. This baby is the Drake Sword of Dark Souls 2. Once near Drangleic Castle, consider switching to your fully upgraded endgame weapon of choice.

This weapon is actually highly effective against the Ruin sentinels boss, because the boss are vulnerable to blunt attacks. So weapons with blunt attacks do quick killing against this boss

The 1-handed regular attacks are not like axes at all. It's more like a really fast straight sword.
The bane of OP Havel tank PVP invaders when maxed out. Roll forward towards your enemy when they try to power attack with an ultra greatsword, critical attack from behind, repeat 2-3x and reap those sweet, sweet souls and effigies.
