Curved Nil Greatsword is a weapon in Dark Souls 2.
A great curved sword with an Ominous blade. One of the forbidden weapons sealed away by the Ivory King.
Formed by Rock, Tree, and the remnants of a most peculiar soul.
It is said the farther the wielder travels, the deadlier the blade becomes.
Acquired From
- DLC Crown of the Ivory King
- Obtained from a chest guarded by three golems in the uppermost floor when continuing the area after the 3rd bonfire. (SPOILERS AHEAD: You need to kill Aava and proceed with the scene in the area after so the ice melts from Eleum Loyce)
Hints and Tips:
- Upgraded with Twinkling Titanite to +5
- Has a completely different swing set than other curved greatswords when 2-handed
- 2-hand parry is replaced with a slower version of the running attack.
- Has a unique strong attack when powerstanced with another curved greatsword, ultra-greatsword or greatsword.
- Receives a damage bonus based on the wielder's NG cycle, signified with a glowing red aura which increases in radiance with subsequent NG cycles.
- The maximum damage bonus is acquired at NG+9, while it receives no bonus on NG.
- The damage bonus doesn't scale with bonfire ascetics.
- It cannot be buffed by any resins or spells, but it can be infused by McDuff.
- At NG + 10, with strength and dex 99, the AR is 290 + 370 (without Ring of Blades + 2).
- The NG scaling can change (as a summon) depending on the host's NG cycle.

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.
The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].
This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.

Stability: How well the player keeps stance after being hit

Just to let people know, whenever you are summoned into someone else's world, the Curved Nil Greatsword scales from the host's NG cycle, not yours.

Why does DS2 have so many interesting and unique weplapin ideas? It's sad that DS3 scrapped almost everything DS2 made good. DS2 best souls game imo.

I like to power stance with this weapon and the Curved Dragon Greatsword. Deadly combo since in order to power stance you’ll have the soft caps for both weapons and the both have B S scaling. Literally, curved nil has S str and B dex while curved dragon has B str and S dex.
