*When infused: 80 physical dmg/80 elemental dmg and B scaling with chosen element. Dex scaling changes to C.
Dagger is a Dagger and one of the available Weapons in Dark Souls 2. Dagger is a weapon with quick, precise strikes, but low attack power and short reach. It's best for players who like fast attacks and can chain them together. It's effective in critical situations like backstabs, parries, and guard breaks, dealing high damage to weaker enemies. It also has low stamina use and can stun enemies, creating openings for more attacks.
A standard dagger.
Has only modest attack and short reach, but can be jabbed in rapid succession. With a powerful critical attack, this is a potent weapon in the hands of the capable
How to get Dagger in Dark Souls 2
- Sorcerer starting equipment.
- Explorer starting equipment.
- At Things Betwixt as you exit the cave next to the bonfire, the first fog gate on your left contains a Dagger +0 towards the end of the path.
- Bleeding Dagger +5 available as a drop in Things Betwixt. Dropped by the dagger-wielding red phantom just outside of the King's gate in Forest of Fallen Giants (NG+ non-respawning. Can be fought multiple times with Bonfire ascetics)
DS2 Dagger Hints and Tips
- Exceedingly powerful in backstabs, parries, and guard break attacks. Even with low DEX and a base level dagger it can still reliably hit for 400-800 damage. Due to the high criticals it can hit for.
- Commonly infused with Mundane in old patches of the game, current balancing makes Mundane daggers do less damage than uninfused in all but extremely high level characters.
- Its poise damage and low stamina consumption allows to consistently stun low poise enemies such as Licia.

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.
The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].
This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.
Weight: How much the item weights when equipped.
Stability: How well the player keeps stance after being hit
Attack Type: Defines what kind of swing set the weapon has.

Is this the best weapon to infuse with poison (because of the speed) ??

Its good for backstabs, but with enough damage boosting stuff, its a high dps counter machine

I like how the earliest weapon with a simple name turns out to be one of the best weapons.

I am currently using this with no stat investment ever since I picked it up on my mage build because you can stunlock enemies with the stone ring on and the backstabs are really strong. I don't feel the need to get another weapon even the MoonlightGS
- Anonymous
Give this the Stone Ring, who needs backstabs? You can just stunlock someone to death. XD

Made a new character then chose petrified something as a gift and got old whip should i upgrade dagger or old whip thanks.

This and the buckler from the first level, you're pretty much set against any humanoid enemy in the game
I think Ray Dhimitri on Youtube ranked this as top ten, but unless you go Mundane I am not seeing it.

What I love about this weapon: early weapon, light weight, deadly crits, fast attacks, piercing + slashing damage, good for parrying by itself(with training). The only problems I see are a lack of range, straight up damage, and poise damage, can only get one per playthrough(unless an Explorer or Sorcerer).... then again, what good tools are without flaws?

how does the counter strength work, does it multiply? does it add the counter strength the the normal damage?
- Anonymous
Like the page says, this is an absolute monster with mundane infusion at around 25-30+ in all stats. Backstabs and criticals are almost always an insta-kill
This is unironically one of the best weapons in the game. The DPS this thing delivers in insane! With a weapon spell buff, RoB, Flynn’s ring, and stone ring, you can easily kill anything or any bosses no hit. I just killed Fume Knight no hit because of the insane counter attack multiplier. You can abuse this on so many bosses. On top of that it had amazing critical multiplier damage so you can destroy any humanoid enemy or even on invaders with backstabs and visceral attacks. I heard this weapon was strong but oh my god this thing is ridiculous once you get the right setup. Top 10 weapons easily.
