Dragonslayer's Crescent Axe is a weapon in Dark Souls 2Dragonslayer's Crescent Axe has lightning damage, making it powerful against various enemies. It requires higher stats, but the combination of physical and lightning damage makes it a strong choice for those who like a bit of magic in their attacks.

The beloved black axe of the gallant Shieldless Lothian, formerly of Forossa.

No warrior matched the ferocity of unbeatable Lothian, but he abruptly retired from the battlefield and was never heard from again. Some say that he grew tired of the frailty of human foes, and set off to slay the legendary dragon.

How to Dragonslayer's Crescent Axe in Dark Souls 2

  • Treasure in the Shaded Woods - past the Ruined Fork Road Bonfire. One of the roads will take you down a path in which you will find a mini-boss Flexile Sentry. The axe is behind him on a corpse.
  • Scholar of the First Sin - From the Ruined Fork Road Bonfire, take the leftmost path. Continue forward and you will find a corpse with the axe on it.

DS2 Dragonslayer's Crescent Axe Hints and Tips

  • Be warned, there is one additional hollow in the area that WILL screw up auto-target, and WILL cause you to turn your back to the flexile sentry and get clubbed in the head.
  • Upgraded using Twinkling Titanite to +5.
  • It can be buffed with any type of pine resin, despite it being an elemental weapon. It's recommended to use gold pine resin to get even more lightning damage.
  • This axe has a faster swing speed and unique move set compared to other axes, with the exception of powerstancing two Dragonslayer's Crescent Axes, it's the same moveset as other axes.
  • It is a lot like the Heidi knight sword(someone link it) in a way, because it can be infused, and it has lightning damage.

I feel like this beauty here gets too much hate.
It looks great and is a good early game strength weapon, also its pretty fast for an axe and has solid reach.
Not to mention the fact that this thing can get buffed by resins too.
What's not to love? It may not be the best option out there, but still a pretty solid early game weapon.

dog **** weapon, worst than bandit axe by a mile and half, I dont know what they were thinking
        192+86 C/B --versus-- 203+203 same C/B scalling

Idk if I’m just stupid but i don’t see the wiki mentioning anything about the axe already doing lightning damage (unbuffed, uninfused) is this just my game or does the wiki never mention it’s natural lightning. I seeing the particles and everything (sotfs btw)

            > Belonged to a guy named "Shieldless Lothian"
            > Is found on a body alongside a shield
            Nice continuity guys

FYI an uninfused regular version of the axe will benefit fully from ring of blades instead of gaining less damage after say a lightning infusion.

                "130 counter damage."
Thats the best part so hands down. Stylish axe that has good moveset and better reach.

I don't get this thing. You'd think it would be great for faith builds because of the innate lightning damage but even when lightning-infused it gets outclassed by Bandit Axe in every single way. Better damage, way lower requirements, lower weight. The only thing the Dragonslayer Axe has going for it is the slightly higher counter damage but it's just not enough to make up for the lower AR. I really want to like this weapon because it looks absolutely amazing (possibly the best looking weapon in the game) but I feel like I'm seriously gimping myself by not using the Bandit Axe. Is there something I'm missing here?

                  • Ok this axe is an absolute beast. Upgraded to +4 with 20 str/13dex it 3-shots alone knights and 4 -shots alone captains. This is without buffs or resins. It's decent poise damage combined with it's fast move-set makes this axe very formidable indeed. As much as I like the Claymore, at +6 with the same stats it came nowhere near killing an Alone captain using a full stamina bar.

In addition to being able to buff it, unlike other weapons with natural bonuses to elemental damage types, this one gets the full damage bonus from the Ring of Blades.

Who put down the note that it's a reference to some obscure book series? The axe is rather plain-looking so it could match numerous descriptions and the golden falcon shield has nothing to do with the axe.

May I use a Bonfire Ascetic to get a second one in the first run? And if so, on which bonfire should I use the bonfire ascetic?
