Drakeblood Greatsword is a weapon in Dark Souls 2.

Greatsword wielded by the Drakeblood Knights, led by the honorable Sir Yorgh. The insignia chiseled upon its hilt symbolizes dragon's blood.

To the Drakeblood Knights, fresh dragon blood was sacrosanct. They believed that by obtaining it, they could achieve a true understanding of life, transcending their own banal existence.

Acquired From

  • Treasure in Crown of the Sunken King DLC. From Dragon's Sanctum, at the bonfire with the two legged mouth monsters, continue through the level until you reach the "Eternal Sanctum Key". Before continuing further through the level, look for a cave opening. Follow this path and the sword is on a dead body.

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.
The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].
This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.
Weight: How much the item weights when equipped.
Stability: How well the player keeps stance after being hit
Attack Type: Defines what kind of swing set the weapon has.
Regular(R), Thrust(T), Slash(Sl), Strike(St)

They butchered this boy badly in ds3. The stamina consumption is low, the counterdamage makes it almost a freaking Katana, the moveset is beautiful, super varied which makes yo unpredictable and that unique 2hr2 is beast, if that thrust connects with leo ring on a counter hit, you might aswell oneshot your opponent. And let's not forget about the exquisite fashion souls.

Its one of only two weapons in the game that can get all 4 elemental damage bonuses. Pretty cool on its own.

carried me through ng+ uninfused at base requirements. Very capable weapon, rarely needs repair powder. Capitalize on the counterattack damage with Stone ring and/or high poise armor!

This weapon is a great candidate for infusion for a sorcerer or cleric, keeps an A scaling in dex while gaining a C scaling in either fth or int on top of the base magic/lighting damage. Very high counter damage for a greatsword.

Best greatsword for dex build. Counter damage is insane. 2H R2 can one shot in pvp if countered an attack.

I don't know why, but I Love this sword. I played DS3 first but when I got this beauty in DS2 I immediately used it because I liked it in DS3 as well. Let's say this thing destroyed Elana on my blind playthrough. Sure I died a couple of times to her but this weapon did insane damage against her. Definitely helpful if you have trouble with her.

Magic and lightning bonuses worthless and pointless. Ice rapier is much better Dex weapon with higher damage output, less weight and superior move set. Same split damage made Defender sword obsolete as well.

This may actually be the best greatsword for a dex build in the game. Playing a Dex/Intelligence character and this thing keeps outperforming the Drangelic Sword, Mirrah Greatsword and Loyce Greatsword (which is a bit annoying because I really like the Loyce and it took a lot of effort to get.) The Drakeblood also usually outperforms my Watcher Greatsword, somehow, despite the latter having higher attack rating on paper. And on top of it all it uses up less stamina than the others.
