With a slashing moveset similar to the Broadsword, it slightly surpasses it in attack power, poise damage, and reach.

An extremely sturdy pitch-black straight sword.

Colossal warriors staunchly watch over the shrine, ready to defend its resident, or allow one worthy enough to be granted audience.

How to get Drakekeeper's Sword in Dark Souls 2

DS2 Drakekeeper's Sword Hints and Tips

  • Reinforced with regular Titanite to +10.
  • Has a complete suite of slashing attacks and consumes slightly more stamina than most straight swords, the same as the Broadsword and Black Dragon Sword.
  • This weapon is quite similar to the Broadsword, even sharing a moveset. Notable differences include a small increase to attack power and poise damage, a lack of counter damage, and considerably greater reach. This makes the Drakekeeper's Sword a fairly versatile and effective weapon overall, if one can spare the equip load for it.
  • The incredible durability of the weapon can completely negate the need for the Bracing Knuckle Ring or Repair Powder in most circumstances.

Getting 2 of these is a serious serious pita. It seems that it doesn't drop if you switch to Covenant of Champions and only an ascetic will make it drop again.

Infuse with dark and you have a 342 base, same with fire and lightning, while keeping the two main pros of the weapon- damage and range. You do get split damage, but it's way better than going full 40/40 on str and dex. Just slap this on a twink lvl 70 build and you'll never lose to a gank in an invasion again.

SOFTS How much item discovery do i need for the sword to drop? Been farming those guys more than 30 times, still no sword

For anyone wondering, yes this has the longest reach of all straight swords. Makes it pretty versatile. Also has better than average durability. Scaling is kinda bad, but low stat requirements makes it a viable choice for a raw and elemental infusions if you just want to wield it one handed. Don't suggest dual wielding with out being interested in going all the way with the 40 strength dex, as you will already be close to halfway there anyways requiring 24 strength and 12 dex to power stance. Sadly this weapon suffers from a rather late game acquisition.

            • This sword is great for a darkwraith cosplay build as the dark sword is of course not in dark souls 2. If you don't mind speccing into int, faith, and attunement you can also use a pyromancy glove in your left hand to give the impression that you have a dark hand (also pyromancy is op as hell late game). The only problem is that you need a lot of vitality to fast roll in the full darkwraith set plus the drakekeeper's sword (not to mention a shield). If you do use a shield i'd recommend the bone shield that drops off the Aldia Warlocks and the Dragon Acolytes or the drakekeeper's greatshield if you don't mind using a greatshield.
