Falchion is a weapon in Dark Souls 2.
A standard curved sword.
Each slash of a curved sword does less damage than a straight sword, but can deal a series of hits in flowing succession.
The sharp blade is effective at causing bleeding, but is soon dulled. Beware when facing rock-solid foes.
Acquired From
- Buy from Blacksmith Lenigrast in Majula for 1200 souls.
- Dropped by hammer-wielding Forrest Grotesques in Shaded Woods
Hints and Tips:
- An Enchanted Falchion can be found behind Vorgel the Sinner after defeating the Belfry Gargoyles in Belfry Luna.
- Very good early game weapon for a DEX-build in most PVE and PVP situations, but unreliable against bosses. The Falchion's moveset allows you to easily stay in range of your opponent while attacking. Because you step forwards slightly with each swing, it's difficult for enemies to escape your combo.

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.
The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].
This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.
Weight: How much the item weights when equipped.
Stability: How well the player keeps stance after being hit
Attack Type: Defines what kind of swing set the weapon has.

So, infusing this with Bleed was something of a mistake, as it barely gains any additional Bleed with it. Even powerstancing two bleed falchions barely causes any boss or other player to bleed, or at least I never noticed.

Here's an idea I've rolled with to great success from NG all the way to Champ's Covenant NG+4- Poison Infusion
Passive damage dealt while you get to remain mobile and potentially biting a gem before going on the offensive is stupid underrated. It comes up quite a lot too, especially during that rare modern PvP/Invasion encounter.
You give up a teeny bit of direct damage for a lot of passive power.

I envy those Sanctum Knights with Falchions the size of my entire body, if only I could get a curved greatsword version of these I'd be using it non-stop even if it was total trash. It just looks so fancy

Want to play as Captain Falchion? Here's how! You'll need 13/19 to power stance these bad boys, which is very affordable. But after that you gain OPTIONS. A Bandit with 13/19 will deal 284/124 regular/bleed damage. Reminder that Bleed damage scales with Faith for a bit, so a Bandit is the better choice for these builds. The Ring of Blades +2 increases this by 50 and with 13/40 stats you're looking at a total of 312/150 regular/bleed without the ring. You can keep it at that and deal some solid damage and get a few Bleed procs out of it now and then, but there's more. The Crest of Blood (Brotherhood of Blood covenant ring, remember your Token of Spite) and Shadow Gauntlets (somewhat difficult to farm from the Suspicious Shadows) boost your Bleed damage by 50 each so you'll deal a cool 250 bleed damage. From here you can decide on whether to go for the Bleed infusion. A Bandit with 40 Dex and 8 Faith with the full kit listed above will deal 362/250 regular/bleed when not infused compared to the 313/362 regular/bleed infused. While the damage output is notably lower thanks to the decreased scaling and the Ring of Blades being less good on infused weapons, the Bleed damage is staggering and you'll proc it in record time. And even if you crank your Dex down to the minimum of 19 you're still looking at 224/314 uninfused/infused bleed. So which do you use? I'd say both! Since the Falchion deals less damage than other power stance weapons you'll need a way to repair them... or not and have a pair of both infused and uninfused to be able to better deal with enemies that don't bleed. So come on and show them your moves with the power of the Falchion!

I did some testing on the forever alone knights with this weapon. It does more counter attack damage than a +10 rapier. The falchion only has a 110 crit modifier while the rapier has a 140. It may be due to the bleed proc triggering during the animation and if that is the case, then I guess the rapier will outperform it on targets immune to bleed. It's great to use for dual wield because of the low strength requirement (13 for dual wield). I recommend this and a rapier simply for the moveset. In narrow spaces the rapier is invaluable. If you dual wield with another curved sword or a rapier you can also parry but be mindfull that rapiers and curved swords have different parry frames. See the 'Parry frame data' on this site for a breakdown :)

I picked up this weapon for temporary usage but ended up going through the game with it. It's pretty handy, even if some bosses are resistant to it. It's a shame its R2 attack isn't very useful. The weapon would be a lot funner if R2 came into play more often.
Enchanted Falchion is great for mages if youre investing for high mage(Int and Att > 50). It will transform some Int into physical damage. But eventually other weapons get better, like infusing a Mace with Enchanted :) Besides, you won't take advantage of the bleed if you dont level Dex and Faith.
