Flame Swathe is a Pyromancy in Dark Souls 2 (DKS2). Flame Swathe, a pyromancy crafted by Straid, the eminent mage of ancient Olaphis. Engulfs distant enemies in powerful flames, consuming them in searing fire. Pyromancies are offensive fire spells that do not demand Faith or Intelligence prerequisites and can be executed with a Pyromancy Flame or Dark Pyromancy Flame. The fire damage scales with Intelligence and Faith, yet there are no specific stat requirements for casting pyromancies. However, opponents resistant to fire damage remain unaffected by Pyromancy Spells.

Flame Swathe Notes and Tips in Dark Souls 2
- Great spell in PVP, and can hit you from a distance, and if you're in a roll, you won't have time to get away from the impact. The best part of this spell is it's sheer damage. With an upgraded pyromancy flame, it's entirely possible to burst down full-health enemy players with just a single flame swathe cast. This spell is also very useful in PVE situations and comes very handy in boss fights.
- As of Patch 1.04, the damage of this spell has slightly decreased, also, the explosion is delayed.

Got 2 spells in 7 cycles with gold ring +2, dragon shield, symbol of avarice in ng. So maybe it was luck but not super super rare because I got 2 and not just one lucky spell

I ran through belfry sol 3 times killing all the 5 bell keepers and it dropped. I was waring gold serpent ring +1 and jesters hat and I used a rusted coin. So to anyone wondering how rare it is, it's not impossibly rare.

Cast this at the dark lurker several times, exploded on him and did 0 damage each time. wtf??

Also drops from these big mummy guys with the crescent polearm in Lost Bastile. I found this only 3 times in 500h playtime. Very very rare.

This spell is a godsend for pyros, it deals a shitton of damage, the number of uses is not as terrible as forbbiden sun's, it only costs one slot and it CAN be farmed from respawning enemies. Not to mention that it works great in pvp as a setup or after a parry, and it's also perfect for pve just for it's raw damage.
