Foot Soldier Sword is a weapon in Dark Souls 2.
Inexpensive straight sword. Standard issue for Drangleic foot soldiers.
No masterpiece, this weapon won't be used to fend off any truly threatening foe.
Acquired From
- Unusual drop from Hollow Infantry. wielding swords and shields.
Hints and Tips:
- Upgradeable with regular Titanite to +10.
- Despite its humble appearance and description, it is actually a decent weapon:
- It weighs less than many other similar weapons.
- It requires very low stats in order to correctly use it.
- Really good choice for early game for any class, specially those with low STR/DEX values.
- Keep in mind that the weapon scaling and durability are also some of the worst.
- Along with the Ashen Warrior Sword and the Shortsword, this is the only other straight sword with a complete set of thrusting attacks.
- Popular and very useful choice in PvP.

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.
The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].
This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.
Weight: How much the item weights when equipped.
Stability: How well the player keeps stance after being hit
Attack Type: Defines what kind of swing set the weapon has.

Lowest requirements + high poise damage + low stamina cost. Powerstancing is a no-brainer with these

Good enough two-hander for a mage just starting out. Not as great as the flaming longsword at the start, but doesn't take any level-ups in strength or dexterity.
(Before you call me out on the strength requirement being 7, and mages only having 3, remember that the strength thing in this game doubles your strength for requirements, with a static +1 added, for requirements purposes... in short 3 + 3 + 1.)

That's some insane poise damage for the weight and weapon type. o.o

Literally gave up farming this weapon for an hour after killing the Infantry near Cardinal Tower , to the point where almost every single enemy has been de-spawned and I had roughly 43,000 souls with me . Not worth the effort in my opinion for such a sub-par , mediocre weapon . If it drops , great . If not , don't bother .

I happened across this on my first playthrough and really like the look and moveset.
Now looking at this page i think my hunch was correct, underrated and useful weapon.

the strength requirement is actually like 4, not 7. Evidence: Make a sorcerer build, it only has 3 strength. you can use this with two hands. 1.5x3 should only be 4.5, yet I have no under-stat penalty when I two hand it. 7 is more than double 3.

Of the 3 swords with this moveset, foot soldier sword is the middle length one, and ends up with the highest raw damage regardless of build type. Very good PVP weapon but the durability makes using it PVE difficult. Also it looks great!

Great with elemental infusions (especially fire). Also really low requirements, only needs minimal stat investments with the sorcerer starting class. Only downside is the durabilty, unusable without bracing knuckle ring

Looks really cool. Is complete trash after first area. Thanks devs
If my calculations are correct, a mundane foot soldier sword would be one of the best SL1 weapons in the game.

Why does is say 90 damage in other places for its base damage? Here it has 115. Which is correct?
"Popular and very useful choice in PvP." Why?
