Fume Sword is a Straight Sword and one of the available Weapons in Dark Souls 2. Fume Sword boasts slightly more range than the Drakekeeper's Sword, making it the longest in its category. It's upgraded with Petrified Dragon Bones and consumes significantly more stamina than most straight swords while dealing modest damage unless dark infused.

Straight sword forged from the soul of the fume knight, and imbued with the Dark of Nadalia.

The exile swordsman Raime had the ability to expunge the black fog, but chose instead to live alongside it, in the company of the child of Dark that haunts this sword.

How to get Fume Sword in Dark Souls 2

DS2 Fume Sword Hints and Tips

  • Has slightly more range than the Drakekeepers Sword making it the longest straight sword.
  • Upgraded with Petrified Dragon Bones.
  • Consumes vastly more stamina than most other straightswords while dealing modest damage unless dark infused.
  • Has above average poise damage and one of only four straight-swords with 120 counter damage.
  • Has the same moveset as Sun Sword.
  • While having less scaling than the Crypt Blacksword, this weapon requires a much lower stat investment, which makes it a viable side arm for a dedicated hexer when dark infused and buffed.
  • For Dex dedicated hexers, DO NOT infuse with Dark, use Dark Pine Resin to pull this sword to full potential while retaining its S scaling on Dex. Infusing with Dark drops Dex scaling to A and Dark scaling only improves to B.
  • One of the few weapons to share a moveset with the shortsword.  Debatably a more useful moveset than that of other straight swords, and certainly one that makes better use of the Fume Sword's additional length.

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.
The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].
This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.
Weight: How much the item weights when equipped.
Stability: How well the player keeps stance after being hit
Attack Type: Defines what kind of swing set the weapon has.

Do not listen to naysayers in the comments in the thread. If you dark infuse with dark weapon this sword is legitimately top 5 PvP weapon and also a beast in pve. Great in every situation, no downsides except when fighting Vedstalt, Darklurker and Nashadra.

Judging by the comments, it seems like people don't know how to build this weapon. Because if build right on a dex build, it is an absolute beast. Weighs mere 3 units, has the longest reach in class, highest poise damage in class, highest counter strength in class, arguably the best moveset in it's class and with rob flynn + dark pine resin it just melts people down

"For Dex dedicated hexers, DO NOT infuse with Dark, use Dark Pine Resin to pull this sword to full potential while retaining its S scaling on Dex."

          THIS IS WRONG

Let's do the math shall we? Let's say we have a character with base Str, 50 Dex, 30 Int, 30 Faith, no ring whatsoever.

No Infusion = 367 AR (134 Dark AR)

          No Infusion + Dark Resin = (134 + 50) * 1.3 = 239.2

Now let's see about Dark Infused:

Dark Infused only = 391 AR (226 Dark AR)

See how the AR already higher even before we apply Dark Weapon? Yeah...

          Now let's apply Dark Weapon:

          Dark Infused + Dark Weapon = (226 + 50) * 1.20 = 345

I'm currently using it. With dark infusion and 22 dex 40 fth 40 int, this weapon is a beast. It shows visually that it has B scaling but the additional AR from scaling seems to be really high.

I'm not sure because Dark Souls 2 is the newest Dark Souls to me but holy **** it feels like there are so many dex weapons and not a lot of anything else

              • Anonymous

"For Dex dedicated hexers..." Thats not a thing. If you are dumping a lot of points into dex, you wont be a hexer. All those valuable souls go into Int/Faith/At and whatever Vig/End you can squeeze out.

I don't know if this got nerfed or what, but it's got crap damage. Comes with dark damage, yet when infused with dark the scaling does not increase. When fully upgraded and not infused, at 60 dex, even though it claims to have S scaling, my normal +9 dagger does more damage. Really horrible weapon. I can find no use for it, so it goes in buried in the box. However, it's easy to find, all you need to do is sort by attack and at +5 it's located near the bottom close to the completely un-upgraded ladle and parry dagger. Do not waste your time with this weapon.

Even with S scalling, it's not all that good to a pure dex build. You're better of using a katana, curved dragon greatsword or Black Knight halberd

                    • This thing seems best used elegantly with counter punching. It sometimes feels like a cross between a spear and a long sword, and when it's just one opponent, that r2 counter *****s folks up. But against mobs, well... you'd better be good at managing your movement.
