Great Axes in Dark Souls II are a type of Weapon that has the highest Strength requirement in the game in order to be wielded. It is also among the heaviest type of weapons in the game. Its attacks consume a large amount of stamina, but it makes up for by having high damage output and often breaks through blocking quite easily. The downside of this weapon is its range, it generally has the shortest range among all the heavy weapons, coupled with making the attacks very slow, it can easily be counterattacked by faster weapons. This weapon is best used for generating the maximum force to an unsuspecting enemy, or when the opponent has a large hitbox or when fighting in narrow spaces. This page covers a list of all Great Axes in Dark Souls 2.

Yknow, I feel like the Giant Axe should have the highest damage here, like raw damage. That thing ****ing owns, I did a run with it. But even how heavy it is and how hard it is to get the upgrade materials, it's not the highest damage and still has lower damage than a Greatsword. Still, that was a good run. I can't argue that Giant Axe isn't solid.
