Greatshields Strike / Parry
Enchantable:
Yes/No
No Special

Havel's Greatshield is a GreatShield in Dark Souls 2. Greatshields can be used not only to block an enemy but allows player to do shield bash. (Great shields replaced parry ability with heavy shield bash)

Acquired From

  • The Gutter. The first bonfire. Get the Forgotten key from the gulch. On the first platform after the bonfire sprint jump to the platform on the upper left and proceed past the enemies to the room full of poisonous statues and open the door. it will be in a pot along with the other parts of the Havel set.

Hints and Tips:

  • The ideal shield for any tank-build. the incredible stability means you'll be losing very little stamina from melee attacks, usually allowing you to regain the stamina lost between attacks while keeping your shield up (!). the weight and the strength requirement mean it's not viable unless you're committing to a strength+vitality build.
  • Counter measurement against this shield would be Mundane Mail Breaker, Bleed or Poison weapons.
  • The shield bash will become extremely powerful when the shield is upgraded to +5. great if you stagger an opponent,

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.
The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].
This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.

in my opinion the Drake Greatsheild is a better alternative to havels Greatsheild because of the amount of strength needed to wield havels and they have about the same resistances other than a savier lack of stabilaty
