Small Shields | Strike / Parry | ||
Enchantable: Magic Shield |
No Special |
Iron Parma is a Small Shield in Dark Souls 2. Small Shields can be used not only to block an enemy but to parry their attack as well. This allows a riposte, a free attack by the player for a high amount of damage. Enemy attacks can be interrupted with a parry (pressing the Strong Attack button for the shield) and requires practice to learn the timing.
Acquired From:
- Buy from Maughlin the Armourer for 1200 souls.
Hints and Tips:
- You may want to use this shield if your considering using the Silver Eagle Kite Shield as aside from 5 more physical defense the Iron Parma is either equal or superior stat wise and benefits from the increased parry frames of a small shield

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.
The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].
This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.

This thing is great on my Cleric. I made her a mostly sorcerer-type caster, who dabbles in miracles and hexes for various things. Once I infused this with magic, I got a well-rounded shield with decent stability, and good parry. I can also avoid wasting points on Dexterity, and keep my strength at 11 while wielding a magic or fire handaxe.
I used this while fighting the Lost Sinner. It took her hits and kept on trucking. Same goes with The Pursuer.
