Lingering Flame is a Pyromancy in Dark Souls 2 (DKS2). Lingering Flame, a pyromancy crafted by Straid, the esteemed mage of ancient Olaphis. Unleashes a stationary fireball that erupts upon the approach of foes. Pyromancies are offensive fire spells that do not demand Faith or Intelligence prerequisites and can be executed with a Pyromancy Flame or Dark Pyromancy Flame. The fire damage scales with Intelligence and Faith, yet there are no specific stat requirements for casting pyromancies. However, opponents resistant to fire damage remain unaffected by Pyromancy Spells.

- Bought from Straid of Olaphis.
- Occasional drop from the machete-scythe-wielding enemies in The Lost Bastille.
- Can also drop from the Undead Jailer in no-man's wharf on top of the pirate ship (!!only the case for "scholar of the first sin"!!).
Lingering Flame Notes and Tips in Dark Souls 2
- Leaves a floating fireball in midair in front of the player that explodes when an enemy gets within a certain range.
This can be useful in PVP because it allows to player to lock down certain positions. Either the opponent walks into the mine and takes damage or he has to find a certain way to avoid them while buying you some time in the process

I use it when farming npc invaders. Cast at their invasion area,then Enter the toggle invasion area,they spawn and die

The trap persists after using a bonfire so you can place these at an enemy spawn, rest, and they will detonate and kill most things. This can occasionally be useful for farming depending on location.
Killer Queen has already touched this spawn.

Also drops from the NG+ Red Phantomed BIG FATTYS on either side of The Lost Sinner bossfight (that guard the doors where the oil torches are)

Be careful if you're trying to use this in the royal rat vanguard boss. If the fireball hits any of the rat statues it will fizzle out and disappear. Super annoying.

Crazy powerful even if you don't level int/fth. Good in PvE, good in PvP. Heavy AoE fire damage on a trap that "lingers" for about 20 seconds. I'd reccomend getting at least 13 attune (and levelling your pyro flame ofc) so you can use this, regardless of character. It's just too useful and fun of a tool to pass.

These are great for taking out the 4 dogs in the giant rat boss. Lay down a couple of these bad bois around you,take out one of the dogs with a bow,and watch as they walk to their deaths.

Really good if you use with the pyromancy Warmth, perfect to set up traps to invaders / hosts.
