Lost Sinner's Sword is a weapon in Dark Souls 2.
An ultra greatsword forged from the soul of the Lost Sinner.
Its blade saps the life of its wielder.
The true nature of this sword is unknown, even to the Lost Sinner herself.
Those who choose this sword will share the burden of the Lost Sinner's misdeeds.
Effect: attacks damage wielder
Acquired From:
Hints and Tips:
- Reinforced with Petrified Dragon Bone to +5.
- Riposte damage with this weapon seems to be dependent on the position of the enemy to the player, for example initiating a riposte against an enemy lower than the player on an inclined surface will cause significantly more damage.
- The rolling two-handed attack on this weapon is its only thrust move.
- Attack Rating scales down with your Sin level, regardless of the weapon sinned with.
- At 30+ sin level the AR of the weapon will be 0 in the menu.
- The AR of this weapon is not properly displayed in the menus, the sin scaling is not properly implemented so it does not affect the damage output in any significant manner.
- After committing a sin this weapon will lose 10 AR in the menus but in practice it will only deal 1 less damage.
- Shares a moveset with the Pursuer's Ultra Greatsword.

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.
The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].
This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.
Weight: How much the item weights when equipped.
Stability: How well the player keeps stance after being hit
Attack Type: Defines what kind of swing set the weapon has.
Regular(R), Thrust(T), Slash(Sl), Strike(St)
I think if I wielded one of these in real life, it would deal 0 damage too

The moveset of this thing is so dumb, it has the same moveset as the pursuer's sword, but it doesn't even look heavy enough to justify your character swinging it like that. In my opinion, this thing would've been perfect if it had the loyce greatsword moveset (especially with the two handed neutral stance), it even resembles the way that the lost sinner herself fights in her boss battle.

I might be crazy, but it seems to deal less damage if you're using on the left hand. Might be because of the hit box or something, or maybe I'm going insane

Weaponsmith Ornifex, traded for the Soul of the Lost Sinner and 5,000 souls.

lmao they had ONE job, make the weapon deal less damage when you have more sin and it doesn't even work lol they are so bad
Btw wouldn't it had been more interesting to be the opposite ? More sin = more damage ? Itis litterally called the Sinner sword but if you sin then your sword doesn't work anymore ? Makes no sense

Fun fact: The Lost Sinner's Sword has a much faster parry animation than other Ultra Greatswords, comparable to that of Curved Greatswords -- making it a surprisingly effective weapon for parrying. This is most likely an international feature designed to represent the Sinner's unique parry attack against the player.

With 0 sin, 40 DEX & 40 STR, an unupgraded Lost Sinner's Sword will have 184 base damage + 70 AR. Use this to make sure you haven't sinned. If the AR is lower than this, use Cromwell's first time free pardon to reset your sin level to 0. You only get one reset per character so be careful. Use a soul vessel if you need to adjust your DEX and STR stats.
Due to a glitch with the Iron Crown DLC, you will gain 1 point of sin without cause, however Cromwell will not recognize that you have sinned if this is the only sin point you've gained. Therefore, you will need to kill an NPC and then speak to Cromwell to reset you're sin level back down to 0. I highly recommend using this oppurtunity to complete the Pate and Creighton questline so you can gain both of their respective gears. Remember, even if you don't attack them during their fight, you will still gain 1 sin point if one of them dies. Thankfully, this glitch seems to only happen once per character file.
Hope this helps, friend.

So I was just testing something I think might help a lot of people. I was really unhappy when I saw that this sword scales with sin level because 1. I don't have a online membership so I can't removed sins and 2. That means I have to kill certain NPCs to get their gear. Long story short, I killed Pate for Creighton, Gren, Targray and invaded Licia. The sword dropped from 270 down to 234. (Unupgraded) I went to Cromwell to forgive my sins in a last hope it would change something and it actually did! The Sword went back to 270 dmg. I'm still confused about the sind mechanic but I thought Cromwell doesn't change your sin level. If anyone knows more about this please help me understanding it better. He also wanted 0 souls.

This sword hits like a truck if it is infused. Its light weight makes it a very nice main weapon for caster builds. The 2H power attack sends human size enemies flying. It is definetly worth trying out. Just do not kill any NPC or complete the quest with Pate and Creighton for it will raise your sin counter. Invading as a Red Phantom is also not an option.
For PvE its definetly a very good choice if you decide to play nice.

''You need to be killed by a Blue Sentinel to revert the downscale of the sin''
That's..not good news for me, I guess

Something I noticed about this weapon, the attack direction is controlled by your movement keys while you are locked on a target, so it operates ignoring the rules that most of the other weapons do. So if you are locked on a target and moving while attacking, it will change entire direction even if you are facing the target, it can be beneficial making you a bit unpredictable, but I found that it forces you to hold your ground much more.

If you have right stats this is perfect weapon for all three DLCs.
And yes - Sir Alonne too.
My stats are 53 STR and 53 DEX, VIT 47 (my carry weight with Royal Soldier's Ring +1 was around 38%) and 147 stamina...and this was most comfortable and quick win against him (just do one hit at a time)

Never has thought to use it because every character I've played I kill Maughlin and Nahr Alma for their set

Its your actual sin that counts in the total AR, no mather if the weapon was created before or after the sins.
Though Cromwell cleans all your sins for free once per character in SOTFS.
Murder the world, buy any weapon and armor of interest than repent febble cursed one!
Favorite Weapon in the entire series!!!

Y'know, as far as I'm aware this actually makes a pretty decent infusion weapon. Trade off being "Literally don't sin cause there ain't really a way to get that missing AR back if you do".
Personally I don't like the moveset on the sword. Ah well
If i create a new Lost Sinner's Sword, will my sin still count against it??
- Anonymous
my fave ultra greatsword(plus fume)looks cool (reminds me of ds1 claymore) and the moveset isn't super spinny
- Anonymous
my favorite sword rn to dual wield. If you dont powerstance two lights with one hand then a light with the other is a sick spin move

Oh...i could have swore it felt INCREASED damage for sins...wouldn't that make more sense?

True to what everyone says, this is an awesome UGS if you don't have any sin. However, it's kind of mediocre until you fully upgrade it and petrified dragon bones aren't common early game so it's pretty much late-game only.

This weapon is a *****ing beast! At +5, with no sin committed and with 60 STR / 40 Dex, the DLCs were a pure joke compared to my usual 60 DEX / 40 STR build with + 10 Blacksteel Katana ~ I nearly 2-Hit any enemy and the boss fights were over in just a small amount of time ~ Fume Knight, Aava, Blue Smelter and even Lud and Zallen didn't break a sweat ~ I recommend the fastest possible combo: Roll 2HR1 into regular 2HR1 - because of the possibility of tracking your stab of rolling 2HR1 you can perform a wonderful punishing attack ~
- Anonymous
This is the best bossfight greatsword for two reasons: 1) It has excellent damage. 2) It has a very quick 2Handed Light Attack Combo..... -Most ultra greatswords lack the speed to safely punish a boss with 2 hits, but this one has a very quick animation for the 2H light attack combo. Usually, just quick enough to get 2 chunky stabs before the boss dodges or counters. HOWEVER, I have gotten into plenty of sticky situations with multiple trash mobs. This weapon is pretty much only useful for single targets. For clearing out regular rooms, I would much rather have quick sweeping attacks, like with the regular Ultra Greatsword or Zweihander. Also something small to note, THE SELF-DAMAGE CAN KILL YOU. I had this happen once when I just needed a few hits left on the boss, and was mildly confused when I landed a hit and my character fell to the ground and let out a death cry. If you are on less than 100 HP, chug a potion or switch weapons.

Hey it kinda looks like Guts' sword from the middle of the Golden Age arc. I think it was just after that Midland Queen died.

Hey, just a little meme to consider before you trade 25k souls for it, in my agile build, with >50% eqp load and 40+ points on STR, DEX and VIT, i found lost sinner sword a little bit inferior in comparison to drangelic sword. with my playstyle, extra agility that drangelic s. provides, makes a big impact on my playstyle in quite painful way.
The plunging attack might come in handy someday, but sometimes, in ((really)) close and personal combat, this attack might even straight up miss the targe because of just how lock on works.
its a good sword, but with similar to mine stats and love for drangelic sword, you should rather consume these souls and get 2-4 level ups.

I wonder why there is no health loss during backstab move o.o

This is awesome weapon. I easily defeated giant Lord ng +7 by spamming jump attack(1400 damage) per hit. If u want do soul farming as a melee build ,it,s really worth to give a try. The battle lasted 30 secs
- Anonymous
I dont get it. Mine is Lightning +5 and has a scale of D-D-B, at 40 STR and 40 DEX I have no scale bonus and the lightning damage says 322-12 (at 50 FTH), I'm not a sinner so I should not get a malus. When it's not infused, the sword has a poor scale bonus (less than 50)

This Confounding Sword...
It makes not a lick of sense to me, I have an AR of 335 (-225) and I deal somewhere between 700-800 damage (with 54 STR and 50 DEX)
my lost sinner sword + 4 (not + 5)with 99 STR 58 DEX 99 INT 99 FAITH, 0 sin ,infusion magic,Rob+2 and Flynn ring hv 750 AR (with magic clutch ring give 765 AR)..i will post AR when i hv +5.

This is a confusing weapon to me. I dont understand it's relation with sin.I know its more sin less damage, but everything else does not make sense.
- Anonymous
It does damage to the wielder? Whats the info on that? How much does it do? Is it a constant dmg or just when u attack someone?
if anyone's wary of the sin making the ar go down gradually thing just know it's just aesthetic, went all the way to wretch to compare and saw borderline no difference in any of the attacks tested
