Loyce Greatsword is a weapon in Dark Souls 2.
Greatsword of the Knights of Loyce.
The Knights of Loyce were commanded to strike down each malformed terror that arose from chaos, and they would not hesitate even it if were their own king.
Acquired From
- DLC: Crown of the Ivory King
- Trade the Soul of Lud, the King's Pet and 3000 souls to Weaponsmith Ornifex.
Hints and Tips:
- Upgraded with Twinkling Titanite to +5.
- It's 2 handed normal attack is a sideways slash that is shared with some straight swords, and followed by the upward slash from many greatswords.
- It shares its 2-handed rolling attack with the Longsword.
- It shares its 2-handed strong attack with the Longsword followed by the second 1-handed strong attack of the Claymore.
- Strangely, if infused with fire, magic, lightning, or dark, while having less then 14 in the respective stat/stats, it will have a lower AR if it were not infused at all.

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.
The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].
This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.
Weight: How much the item weights when equipped.
Stability: How well the player keeps stance after being hit
Attack Type: Defines what kind of swing set the weapon has.

please please can anybody trade the Xanthous Full Set with me? i ended up discarding all the set, i have a lot of hard to farm gear and stuff, including berserker blade, full mad warrior set, monastery scimitar, i can trade more than one item for it if wanted, reach me up on my psn Kurcious or my email: lucaslennon696@gmail.com, once lost it's impossible to get retrieve even on ng+ cycles, and i just can't restart my character/playthrough cause i'm on level 350 and i have gathered pretty much all gear, weapons, armor sets/pieces, rings, everything in the game, doing all over would be horrible, thanks commun

It's really awesome to have a really pretty greatsword that has a straight sword moveset as well as very good scaling... just a shame you have to GO THROUGH THE WORST AREA AND BOSS FIGHT IN THE ENTIRE ****ING GAME to get it

If only this weapon wasn't obtained from the soul of perhaps the most tedious boss fight in DS2 (because of having to run back through the Frigid Outskirts more than anything). I have learned to deal with boss fights that have two bosses but I've never fought Lud & Zallen more than twice (once in the original DS2 and once in SOTFS) despite having over 4,000 hours in DS2. If that boss wasn't on the opposite end of the Frigid Outskirts maybe I would learn how to fight them properly and be able to do a full Loyce Knight cosplay. Feels bad man.

An interesting moveset and visual design marred by its stat scaling and less than stellar damage. Not worth going through Frigid Outskirts to get this.

This sword is pretty <3 Also very nice for game of thrones cosplays

So, would it be better to go with or without infusion? and if so,which would be the best infusion?
- Anonymous
One of the most if not THE most unique weapon from has made moveset wise.

Well I'm definitely going to ****ing use it now after farming those loyce knights into extinction. Plus the loyce armour is so stylish.

"I went through the pain of completing reindeer hell and all i got was this lousy Sword (and shield)"
- Anonymous
Was wondering whether I would regret the effort it took to get this, and was rewarded by (IMO) the prettiest blade in the game with a damn enjoyable moveset. Reasonably strong too; what's not to like?
- Anonymous
I feel like they intentionally made the strength requirement high to compensate for how overpowered this sword is, I mean you really don't need the one handed moveset
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
Y’all really complaining that you have to have 13 str to two hand smh
- Anonymous
People in this comment section don't realise you only need 13 strength to two hand this MONSTER in PvE. Since the two handed moveset is what you aim for anyway, this comes in handy
Pure Dexterity weapon.
Requires a metric crapton of Strength anyway.
Good design. /s

I fear not those who wield the loyce great sword , but instead those who gone through hell to get this

Excelent moveset, but Bloody hell this feels wrong.
the Stats requirements scream Quality but the Scaling is Dex.
who thought it was a good idea?
- Anonymous
Best moveset of the greatswords. It's not very damaging like the others gs, but it has reach and the 2H R2 does a lot of damage
- Anonymous
- Anonymous
25 strength required. E scaling in strength. Whose idea was this
- Anonymous
great damage, high speed on 2 hand, and it looks great! only downside is you need to beat a... questionable boss for it, but after beating that garbage you've got a weapon that makes it well worth it imo.

This weapon is like a claymore, except it requires higher stats, has a worse moveset, has shorter reach, and is unspeakably harder to obtain and upgrade.
- Anonymous
WHY DO ALL THE GREAT SWORDS SCALE WITH DEX? I JUST WANT A COOL QUALITY GREAT SWORD.
WHY FROM WHY???????,
- Anonymous
Can confirm that no matter how high your stats are (I got 99 in everything) you always LOOSE AR. It's a shame that this weapon looses so much physical AR and gains so little with elemental infusions. Also Mirrah Greatsword will always have higher AR no matter what you do. Such a cool unique weapon with an amazing moveset but poor Stats... But the fashion tho! Spot on!
- Anonymous
Unfortunately at 40/40 the mirrah GS outclasses this weapon in damage, counter dmg, and weight. Moveset is fire though

At lower to moderate levels it's a great choice. But at much higher/maxed out levels, it is quite under-powered compared to other greatswords such as the Black Knight Greatsword. At 99/99 str/dex, 99 faith, a Heide Knight Sword infused with lightning does almost as much damage and because it's a straight sword, swings much faster and is capable of outputting an insane amount of damage compared to the Loyce. The lower amount of poise damage of the HKS can be offset with the stone ring.

*****swrod! Claymore 1000x better! The human who created this sword should be in jail for life!
Um not to be that guy but I don’t think that’s the picture of the right sword.
- Anonymous
I wish to point out that the image on the description panel is wrong. What it is shown is the Charred Loyce Greatsword not the actual Loyce Greatsword which the player acquires by trading the soul of Lud through Ornifex. The Loyce Greatsword is silver coloured with a slightly dark handle.

Reply to below. Letters are unreliable in this game, especially after infusions. I will give an example. Right now I have 50 faith and a lightning infused claymore with 203 lightning attack and B faith scale and as a result, it is now 203+47 lightning without rings. I also have defender greatsword with 80 lightning attack and C faith scale and as a result, it is 80+82 lightning attack. B scaling gives 47 attack and C scaling gives 82 which is some bullshit. Some people think scaling is based on base attack, therefore, misunderstandings happen. But my example shows that high base attack doesn't bring high scaling. All weapons are +5 by the way. Sorry for my bad english.
- Anonymous
I find it interesting that the +5 version retains its S scaling in dexterity with every infusion except Raw and Mundane. Is there any reason why I shouldn't infuse this sword?
- Anonymous
It dropped for me from Loyce Knight when I was farming souls on Ivory King boss fight... Twice! I have two swords, one shield, full armor set (one of each part and 5 chest pieces) and 14 Loyce souls. I give up for now to not get too high for soul memory. I was not playing ng+ just first run.

Really can't believe they brought so many junk weapons back for ds3, but not this beauty.
