Murakumo is a weapon in Dark Souls 2.

"A curved greatsword said to have been brought to this land by a foreign warrior.

Hold with both hands to make parrying possible.
The exquisitely crafted wide blade makes deadly use of both its weight and smooth slicing action.

A tough training regimen is required to master this sword."

Hints and Tips:

  • Upgraded with regular Titanite to +10.
  • The parrying animation and window for the Murakumo is faster than almost any Great-sword. Making it an excellent off-hand weapon if you can get comfortable with the Southpaw.
  • The two-handed R2 deals heavy poise and stamina damage(if blocked) with a monstrous knock-back. It will knock-back and knockdown opponents ONLY on the 2h R2.
  • Trivia: It is believed to be a recurring weapon in From Software games, the name came from their early game "MURAKUMO", and appeared in Dark Souls before, wielded by Shiva of The East and obtainable from Giant Skeleton. It is also named after Kusanagi, a legendary sword from Japanese mythology, came from the tail of Yamato-no-Orochi (eight branched hydra). Also modeled after Zanbato/Zhanmadao, literally horse-cutting blade, it explained the reason of having a thick and long blade, the concept is simliliar to an oriental version of a Zweihander.

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.
The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].
This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".

Would an early game strength build want to use this? I know it's dex scaling but it has high AR and doesn't require dragon bones. I wouldn't want to dump bones into Arced Sword only to replace it later. Unless Arced holds up when Dragon and Nil show up? PvE

How this is an excelent off-hand weapon for parry? The only manner to do a parry with this weapon is holding with two hands

This is my favorite weapon. +10 Lightning-Infused is absolutely unbeatable. It's so fast One-Handed and takes such little stamina.

Used this weapon in NG+ run and it wrecks everything. lmao
            I re-spec to 40/40/45 - str / dex / fth + sunlight blade + sacred oath + rob+2
Look up glass knight, it has HIGH resistance to lightning, and yet i am doing 300 dmg per slash WITH 1 NPC summon, so definitely it would deal MORE dmg if I fight that glass knight on solo. (npc increases boss defenses). Might be around 350-450. So yeah, that's all there's to it.

Poise damage is good, 1h slash staggers alonne knights. (smaller enemies are definitely staggered)
Also 2-handed strong attack is very useful for RED INVADERS, as it knocks them out on the ground, giving you an ample time to regenerate stamina/use healing items, also, you can spam it if you time it carefully as the enemy gets up.

            Final Verdict:
Best with lightning infusion as mentioned due to many enemies are weak to lightnings.
You can bring duplicate without infusion if you're going for pure str/dex build.
1h slash is very fast and uses little stamina, can definitely punish bosses.

            Would Recommend: 10/10

The banana chopper whopper, Wish it had more of a rigid edge to it so it'd actually look like just a massive katana

              • Anonymous

Keep in mind that consumes slightly more stamina than murakomo, which means that performs less swings with the same amount

I'm Japanese. This site is better than Japanese one ! Please lease correct me a little. Yamato-no-orochi × Yamata-no-orochi 〇 "Yamata"means "divided into eight"
