in case you're wondering how to get here, go through the large room with the mammoth knight and plague rat. In the far right corner of that room is a doorway with leads to another room where two rats will ambush you. Go up the ladder and around the walkway past the spike wall, up the stairs, and now you're on the second story of the first room. Go left once you enter and then go left again, before you reach the dwarf knight(?), you should see a bonfire and fog gate.
