Pilgrim's Spontoon is a weapon in Dark Souls 2.
Spontoon used by warriors on pilgrimage.
Rather worn from the long journey it has doubtless seen.
A spear which also doubles as a catalyst for sorceries, making it an ideal choice for light-footed pilgrims.
Acquired From
- DLC Crown of the Old Iron King: After using the Scorched Iron Scepter, walk from the Upper Floor bonfire, head to the room full of elevators, and hop on the one that leads to a doorway in the wall. Facing the wall, jump to the right to reach the third platform. It's in an iron chest.
Hints and Tips:
- Strong attack casts Sorceries/Hexes
- Buffing it increases its spell damage (similar to the Blue Flame)
- Can be powerstanced with 17 STR and 18 DEX.
- Either Infuse path will increase both Magic and Dark scaling, but the base damage decreases slightly, unlike most other weapons.
- This weapon has only 2 upgrade paths: Magic and Dark

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.
The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].
This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.
Weight: How much the item weights when equipped.
Stability: How well the player keeps stance after being hit
Attack Type: Defines what kind of swing set the weapon has.

Counter damage applies to spells cast with this thus if you are good at the counter hits, this is a good equivalent to staves. Also its a spear so the range advantage as well the ability to be infused and be buffed. Only downside is that its a split elemental weapon; so GMB in PvP and enemy resistances in PvE will result in varying damage results. But a decent weapon none the less. Damage is higer compared to blue flame on counter hits and comparable otherwise.

Clearly made for hexas who want to cast sorcreries, this has the best spell damage to offer for a hexar if you want to cast sorcreries

infuse this bad boy with magic, slap it on a sorcery/hex build and you'll have a great, long-ranged spear for mages. pair it with the sanctum shield if you want to cast high-damage chime hexes. try not to trade very often though and poke behind the shield.
I've done some powerstance testing with this weapon. Usually spears when powerstanced costs a lot of stamina when attacking. However if this weapon is equipped in the main hand and powerstanced with another spear (or any other spear compatible weapons like katana for example, except lances), the stamina consumption is reduced drastically. The only exception is Yorgh's Spear, which act as a lance in powerstancing and the lance moveset takes priority over spears so it doesn't work.
