*When infused: 199 magic dmg/340 elemental dmg
Retainer Staff is a weapon in Dark Souls 2.
Staff wielded by the retainers in the cathedral city.
Long ago, the retainers attended to the priestesses, but with them gone, the retainers were left to wander frigid Eleum Loyce without purpose.
Acquired From
- DLC: Crown of the Ivory King.
- After killing Avaa, the King's Pet and talking to the Queen to stop the Snowstorm, the Retainer's Staff can be found behind the now melted ice blocks in a narrow path close to the fountain on the way to the second bonfire.
- Dropped by Retainer Sorcerer
Hints and Tips:
- High base damage (300 max), but it offers no scaling, suitable for low Int sorcerers.

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.
The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].
This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.
Weight: How much the item weights when equipped.
Stability: How well the player keeps stance after being hit
Attack Type: Defines what kind of swing set the weapon has.

This can be usefull for those who focus on melee but still want a basic ranged option or use buffs without too much investment into int or faith. It is a bit like a raw infused weapon for spellcasters that don't invest in strength or dexterity.

It's pretty much useless from what I can tell. 340 in magic or dark for 18 int and a very slow cast. Witchtree branch at 16 int (2 less) gives 340 magic when magic infused and 341 dark (with 4 fth the lowest base fth possible) when dark infused with the fastest casting speed to boot. The witchtree branch has almost twice the casting speed and gets the same damage for less int. This staff seems useless even for low stat builds.

Endgame content, "suitable for low Int sorcerers", requires 18 Int to use.
Wow, it's worthless!
