Ring of Blades

ring of blades

Increases physical attack.

Ring of Blades is a Ring in Dark Souls 2 (DKS2). The Ring of Blades, fashioned after the weapon of the mad knight of Alken, amplifies physical attack. Once, the kingdoms of Alken and Venn thrived on these grounds, both founded by the same individual but eventually consumed by rivalry and animosity. Players can equip up to 4 Rings, but equipping two of the same item is not possible. Some rings have upgraded versions, having a maximum of +3. Some can only be found in NG+. Rings can be repaired at a blacksmith, but not upgraded. Upgraded versions must be acquired throughout the game from corpses, chests, bosses, etc.

The Ring of Blades is modeled after the mad knight of Alken's weapon of choice. Increases physical attack. The kingdoms of Alken and Venn long ago flourished on these very grounds. They were both founded by the same man, but were reduced to rivalry and spite.

Ring of Blades Locations in Dark Souls 2

  • Obtained by defeating the boss Pursuer in Forest of Fallen Giants.
  • +1: Obtained by defeating the Pursuer within Iron Keep in the Smelter Demon's room. The Pursuer will spawn after Smelter Demon is defeated, but one must rest at a bonfire/re-enter the area first. (The Pursuer in the Forest of Fallen Giantsdoes NOT have to be defeated.) (You will also not obtain the Ring if he dies while you get summoned.)
  • +2: Obtained by defeating the two mini boss Pursuers in Drangleic Castle throne room on NG+. (Can be done via bonfire ascetic at King's Gate bonfire)
  • The +2 variant will drop like a regular item. This means that if the player dies before picking the ring up, the item will despawn and be unavailable until the next NG cycle (or after using a Bonfire Ascetic). This issue can be avoided by ensuring that the Pursuer on the player's right is dispatched before the one on the left; this is because the one on the left will drop the ring.

DS2 Ring of Blades Tips and Notes

  • Increases ALL physical damage. This includes fists and bows.
  • As this ring does not provide a percentage increase in damage, it is most effective with weapons that can attack rapidly, in order to proc the increased damage as often as possible.
  • The physical damage bonus provided by this ring is reduced proportionally to the physical damage reduction of the imbuement used for each individual weapon (typically 20%-30%). See the Imbuement section of the Upgrades page for more details.
  • At +2, this ring provides normal, raw and mundane infused weapons with +50 AR, bleed and poison infused weapons with innate bleed or poison with +40 AR, elemental infused weapons will receive +25 AR and weapons upgraded with twinkling titianite or petrified dragon bone +35 AR.

Came here to see if it works on throwables. I tried it out on throwing daggers, it does not work. Hopefully this helps someone out 'cause they don't mention it on this page, even though they make such an emphasis on it increasing all physical damage, it does not, as it does not effect throwables that deal physical damage.

tried getting the +2 version my first new game + visit to Drangleic castle. Surprisingly I found the duo pursuer boss fight fun and managed to kill the first one. I even managed to do a quick weapon swap mid match because my black scorpion stinger broke. Then when I was going to heal i got stuck in the front door and died. And when I was dying I saw that the pursuer I killed had dropped something. Devasted and dead inside, I had to run all the way back from the forked road bonfire in shaded woods all the way back to the throne room. I reclaimed my lost souls and killed the other pursuer out of spite and then I saw it. +2 Ring of blades. Never have I been as happy. Good ending! \|T|/

I've done it twice (bonfire ascetic) the second time with the covetous gold serpent ring+1 and nothing. Is it different in SOTFS?

do you guys know if burning a bonfire ascetic before killing nashandra and aldia just to get +2 does worth it?

So what I'm figuring, is that this ring works best with fast weapons (daggers, straight swords, curved swords, etc), and isn't worth using for big heavy weapons (ultra greatswords, great hammers, great axes) if you have any other useful ring to fill a slot with

This is twice now I beat them (NG and NG+) without dying and somehow didn't see the ring on the ground and wandered off. Ascetic time.

In typical dark souls 2 fashion, instead of making it difficult because the boss is genuinely a good fight and interesting, just make it a gank squad. Solo level 120, what am I supposed to do but kite and hope i can poison one to death? Such a boring and frustrating fight to get one of the most important rings for melee builds. Rant over.

I just arrived at iron keep, and lost the +1 Ring, since i killed the pursuer, but he hit me back at the same time, we both died, he dropped the +1 RING, and then the ring banished to nothing when i respawned and went looking for it where it dropped, since we both died, the item was lost on respawn.

What a shame, i tryed to make the pursuer respawn but that's not how it works, my question is right now, is it worth it, waste a bonefire ascethicc to make enemies thicc and "respawn the pursuer" ??? does it work? anyone knows?

Should really add that the +2 version of this ring drops like a regular item, and can despawn if the player dies to the second pursuer before picking it up. It's a pretty common issue.

Should probably be pointed out that you can't Bonfire Ascetic the King's Gate bonfire to get the +2 Ring of Blades until after you've defeated Nashandra and finished the game, but before moving on to NG+.

Whoever put via bonfire ascetic at King's Gate bonfire needs to remove it. Sense you can't do it on that bonfire sense its the final boss.

Does this applay its damage to EACH shot of a Avelyn (tri-shot crossbow) or only to an ATTACk (divided over the 3 shots)?

Does this add physical damage the the Moonlight Greatsword, or must there already be some physical damage in order to add the ring?

Pursuer keeps thrusting his massive sword inside me! I can't get it at all OTL...his sword is too long and too big...
