Dark Souls 2 Ring of Life Protection Effects

Durability: 340

Weight: 1.0

Do not turn Hollow or lose Souls upon death. Will not prevent death by petrification, but dying from petrification while wearing the ring will still retain all souls and human form. Breaks when activated but can be repaired for 3000 souls (14000 in SotFS). *Note: If you are cursed while wearing this ring, you will turn hollow but the ring will not break. You will need to spend one Human Effigy (or other ways of regaining humanity) to return to human form.

DS2 Ring of Life Protection Tips and Notes

  • You will retain souls and humanity upon death. You may, however, still be cursed and thus lose your humanity even if you don't die (for example during the Nashandra boss fight).
  • You may also treat this as a method of taking off Black Dragon Set as it requires dying (but not necessary to be hollowing) to take off the armor.
  • This ring CAN be repaired at a blacksmith for 14000 souls in SotFS version. This makes it a very useful way of remaining human without burning through your Human Effigies. Essentially, this ring allows you to purchase unlimited human effigies for 14000 souls in SotFS version, with an added bonus of not having to retrieve your souls.
  • If you die without this ring equipped, you can equip it, and essentially die a second time and your original bloodstain will NOT disappear except if you died when you're invading as Red Phantom. This is most likely because you are not dropping a new bloodstain when you die with this ring on. This also applies to the Ring of Soul Protection. This is a great way to retrieve souls if you do not want to wear this ring 100% of the time, and instead simply equip it when it's needed.

Before SoFS you could get 6 of these easy before ng2 and it used to be 6000 to repair I think 8000 for the soul protection. Thems was the days. Still high utility though.

Was I supposed to get +1 on my second time finding? My former first ring of life protection is broken. Guys I'm going to be frank. I deleted my save again.

This ring may protect my life, but it wouldn't protect my emotional/ psychological damage along the way. A blessing and a curse.

          • i mostly just use this ring when i just want to remove my black dragon set or just farming for souls from the giant lord. it's kinda worth using if u dont want to waste a ton of farmed souls, but if you don't need any of that, then it's really just a wasted ring slot. It's also pretty much good when fighting other bosses like raime, alonne, or just a boss that is hard for you. although if you git gud (which im trying btw, takes time), you don't really need this ring. im not trying to hard on you, but um not really sure if this is good advice or not, so um yeah.

The only ring i could call perfect in ds2.

This ring is for the soul farming people/ people who hate to lose there hp if they die, ring.

I had so many times in this game moments where i lost a lange amount of souls by being killed 2 times before being able yo grt my souls back. And it pissed me off that i lost those souls forever.

And the fact that ds2 dying makes you lose hp everytime you die untale you have half health left for your hp bar.

This ring is a lifesaver. No more Hollow ugle charcter with les hp and 0 souls. And becease it is so useful it was a ring that breaks evertime you died after you got everything back. But the fact you can repair it makes it so great for me.

Also a had try't to get the max soul level by farming thr giant lord over and over again. But i did it 1st without the ring on (Becease i 1st din't know this ring existed) and it was hard to keep those souls when he can 2 shot you on higher cycles. I even lost an opportunity to 6 times upgrade myself becease i died 2 times again before being able to get my souls back.

But after i found this ring it was save to try and farm him without upgrading myself 1st after i killed him many times over again.

I love this ring. now i always have it on my character.

It's even better than that stupid king blessing that goes away if you go to ng+ after getting it in The Late game. (Where it's useless unless you still have bosses to kill, or for pvp) atleast with the ring you can keep your souls and being allowed to be human early game, with only having it to be repaired after death, to use it over and over again.

There is a way to repair this ring (and everything else) for free.
It needs the shulva dlc, though

go to the second bonfire, with a way to do ranged non physical damage (fire, magic, dark or lightning) sanctum crossbow works, and i think bow of want works too , i have not tested.
once the enemi are cleared, look at the status on the other side of the cliff. destroying them reveal a triangular obelisk, the next hit activate it and make a bridge appears.
there are some turtle enemis and a tree at the end. hitting the tree with a whip (like the one found nearby) create an aoe that repear partially all equipped item, unbreaking them in the process. including one of each soul and life protection if both are equipped
only do it twice at a time, you really do not want to kill the tree (and you should not need more than two pass anyways)

Then they boned the Sacrifice Rings by making them break and disappear in Dark Souls 3 just like in 1. Seriously From, if it ain't Broke, don't fix it. Make them more expensive to Repair, alright that's fine it was a definitely too cheap before. Now though, they just completely disappear again. Not cool.

best ring in the game. If you go through an area and die this rings saves your humanity and souls, and then you can just repair it super cheap with the souls you had

Thank you for the information, I was wondering how effective the ring was and how long it lasts, whether it broke immediatly or not, now I don't have to try, thank you.

Infinite farming at shaded woods. I think I have close to twenty so I'm always human and never lose souls. Also the cost of the dlc is worth it so just buy the original game to keep repair cost reasonable as these rings completely change the game.

If the ring is broken, it can be repaired free at the magical pagan tree (if you own the dlc and have access to shulva).

the devs really erfed the holy shoot out of this. it has only cost 3000 to repair and you could have 3 of them! now you only have one and it costs 14,000 to repair!

                            • Anonymous

From soft really nerfed the crap out of this ring. You could have two per play through, and could be repaired for 3000 souls each. Now you can only have one, and it costs 14,000 souls to repair.
