Enchantable: Yes/No |
No Special |
Sanctum Shield is a small shield in Dark Souls 2. DLC or Downloadable Content shields cannot be obtained in the original version of the game, Dark Souls 2.
Acquired From
- DLC Crown of the Sunken King: At the highest level of the Dragon's Sanctum (pyramid directly across the Priestess' Chamber Bonfire) in an iron chest. Walking across the bridge from the Priestess' Chamber Bonfire and turning to your right, you can find a ladder leading further up the pyramid. Beware the three Corrosive Egg Crawlers in the room with the ladder. Once you have climbed up the ladder you will find an iron chest containing the Sanctum Shield.
Hints and Tips
- Able to cast Sorcery and Miracle with strong attack; contrary to description, this shield actually CAN be used for casting Hexes, in the same manner as Black Witch's Staff.
- Just like disc chime this shield does a lot of damage if used as 2-handed weapon. Unlike disc chime this shield will guard user with 2-handed r1 attack and it can be buffed with strong magic shield. With right usage this can be made into a devastating tool in both PvP and PvE.
- Alternatively, you can also use the Repel spell as an alternate means of parrying, which neglects all attack, as a surprise tactic for countering spells.

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.
The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].
This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.
Weight: How much the item weights when equipped.
Stability: How well the player keeps stance after being hit
Attack Type: Defines what kind of swing set the weapon has.

This damn shield. Combine this with dark rapier at minimum stats. You will not need anything else. You got it all without switching weapons.
Apply dark weapon buff to your dark rapier, lure enemies with ranged spells, block or parry attacks, cast repair if the durability runs low, ...
Is there any other equipment with such a synergy?

Wanted to try a spellsword-esque build with this and Blue Flame, using Great Magic Weapon on Blue Flame with this shield, and Strong Magic Shield with Blue Flame on the Shield. Does Strong Magic shield make the stability on the shield higher? Because I find myself losing a lot of stamina blocking with this even with 20 Endurance...

Shockingly underused shield. I put together an invasion build with a Dark infused Sanctum Shield at 30int/30fth and the Dark Clutch Ring equipped. My attack rating is over 600, and when 2-handed and buffed with Strong Magic Shield I can just shield bash people to death while simultaneously blocking out their swings. About the only thing it can't deal with using shield bashes is opponents running away due to it having no running attack, but that's where the fact that it can cast hexes comes in. Just pop em in the back with a dark orb or resonant soul and you're set. I'm struggling to find a weakness with this thing.

Fire and magic images are in wrong column. Need to be switched around.
My second weapon for gathering hatemail. If i was particularly annoyed at a fight id just 2h this and just delete peoples hp. Shits pretty nuts and no one expected that from a shield. Occasionally id run into someone who knew the damage it puts out, was pretty rare though.
