The best bow in the game when it comes to building up poison. You can get the vast majority of foes poisoned with 3 shots in a row (122 stamina). Besides, it's awesome for PvP as it allows you to quickly swap to a weapon and give at least another swing... Cheap, light, small and yet highly efficient.

The Short Bow actually uses a little LESS stamina than Hunter's Blackbow. At 122 stamina I can only fire three shots with either bow.At 123 stamina I can fire FOUR shots from the Short Bow, only three from Hunter's Blackbow. At 125 stamina I can finally fire four shots from Hunter's Blackbow.
Ah yes, this Bow is my bread and butter to cheese out mobs that tries to ambush me. My player class may be a Knight but I played it like a Ranger.
