*When infused: 144 magic dmg/319 elemental dmg
Sunset Staff is a weapon in Dark Souls 2.
A staff said to have been forged in Aldia. A catalyst for sorceries and hexes. Particularly powerful for casting hexes.
The mysterious Lord Aldia secluded himself inside a manor to conduct various experiments. Those invited to the manor disappeared, replaced over time with malformed beasts that roamed its halls.
Acquired From
- Given by Felkin the Outcast, in Huntsman's Copse, if your INT and FTH are both 20+. Talk to him and exhaust his conversation path, and he will give you the staff and the Hexer's Set (If your INT and FTH isn't high enough then use a soul vessel to respec your stats so your INT and FTH are 20+ and then use another soul vessel to change back your stats).
- Outside Aldia's Keep left to the stairs there is an iron chest (mimic) containing another staff. This one is also useful if you want to complete Royal Sorcerer Navlaan's questline without actually killing Felkin when you do not have the required INT and FTH to obtain his staff. Note: The mimic does not drop the staff in SotFS
Hints and Tips:
- The best staff for hex damage, especially infused with Dark. It has respectable magic damage, though not nearly as high.
- The only downside is its casting speed is somewhat slow, as well as its relatively low durability compared with other catalysts.
- If you want to seek for a faster Hex dedicated catalyst, try Witchtree Branch or equip a Clear Bluestone Ring to cope with the cast speed.
- 523 dark with 30/30

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.
The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].
This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.
Weight: How much the item weights when equipped.
Stability: How well the player keeps stance after being hit
Attack Type: Defines what kind of swing set the weapon has.
Regular(R), Thrust(T), Slash(Sl), Strike(St)

You're basically walking around with an RPG-7 on a Hex build with this thing. This thing is disgusting for Dark Orb in particular- I went through B- Smelter Demon and Sir Alonne's place using nothing but the staff, Dark Orb and some heals and still had 7-10 orbs left when clearing both bosses. Absolutely immaculate.

Easily the best looking Staff in the whole series, thankfully its also an amazing staff to use for Hexes as well. While it lacks the versatility of the Black Wirch' Staff (then again that thing is the god of versatility for spellcasting) or the casting speed of the Witchtree Branch.
The amazing fashion points and its sheer power have made this my Hexer's main staff from quite early on. It's a real shame that this staff didn't return in DS3, I would have taken it over the Murky Longstaff any day.

SotFS: hey, don't want to invest on fth nor kill the guy, but still a sorc? Spend two soul vessels then. Geez FROM.

With this thing dark infused, even bosses that are resistant to dark are made squishy by dark orb spamming

I like this staff because you can get it early as a Sorcerer or Cleric(and FAR earlier then Witchtree Branch), and it holds its own the entire game against most enemies. Only downside I can note is the slow cast speed, but a bit of investment in the right gear/stats will make up for that pratfall.

Welp. Turns out I left my other staff on the item box way before I realized it... Now Felkin's dead needlesly. Goddamit.

i talked to him with both inteligence and faith +20 in SOTFS and he didnt give me *****.
It should also be mentioned that Felkin drops this staff when killed. I accidentally overlooked needing it to finish Navlaan's quest, and sold the other two mentioned on this page.
Doesn't everyone play sorts nowadays?......****!!...get the facts right at least!....****!!
