Syan's Halberd is a weapon in Dark Souls 2
"Replica of the halberd of the loyal knight Syan.
A meticulously-crafted, distinguished weapon.
Sir Syan was widely known as the kingdom's
most loyal knight, and when the Giants invaded,
he volunteered to lead the advance party,
but was slaughtered most dishonorably
The King commissioned replicas of Syan's
accoutrements and bestowed them to
promising knights, but not long after they
donned the armor did they thoroughly go mad. "
Acquired From:
- Dropped by the Syan Soldier wielding halberds in Drangleic Castle and Undead Crypt. Also drops from the Syan Soldier in the path from Heide's Tower of Flame to No Man's Wharf, but be advised that this enemy does NOT respawn
Hints and Tips:
- Has a unique set of attacks compared to other halberds, incorporating several moves from the spear attack set:
- First 1H R1 attack is a spear thrust and the second hit follows the regular halberd pattern (which is also a thrusting attack)
- First 2H R1 attack is a 2H spear R1 attack followed by the first halberd 2H R1 attack (an overhead slash)
- 1H R2 is the standard Halberd attack pattern
- 2H R2 is most akin to the alternate spear attack pattern (e.g. Partizan), first attack is a wide sweep, and the 2nd attack is a relatively fast follow up thrust. Despite the weapon description. the first attack in the 2H R2 Combo is strike damage (similar to the spear attack) and is very useful against enemies vulnerable to that damage type (e.g. Ironclad)
- Running attacks, rolling attacks and quickstep attacks maintain the standard Halberd attack pattern. In particular, the two handed running/quickstep attack is a powerful spinning attack
- The halberd attacks are affected by the "sweet spot" mechanic, where damage is reduced if the handle of the weapon connects with the enemy. However, due to the hybrid move set of this weapon, many of the R1 attacks are NOT affected by this mechanic, making it a more versatile weapon for players who don't want to carry a backup weapon
- Can attack with your shield raised.
- Upgraded with regular titanite.

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.
The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].
This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.
Weight: How much the item weights when equipped.
Stability: How well the player keeps stance after being hit
Attack Type: Defines what kind of swing set the weapon has.
Regular(R), Thrust(T), Slash(Sl), Strike(St)
Functions more like a halberd out of DS1/3 than the (IMO worse) halberd moveset from DS2. The 1H R1 Thrust attacks make for much more reliable damage, but you still have the option for that sweet spot damage with the R2 and two handed moves
In the newest version of the game, Giants is NOT misspelled with an apostrophe (at least on the halberd).
Confirmed that it does drop from the Syan Soldier between Heide Cathedral and No man's Wharf. Super low drop rate though - only ever seen it once in 600+ hours

Do yourself a favor; don't use this weapon. They slow attacks and extreme stamina use is attrocious. For pvp and pve. The damage isn't good either, even if you hit the sweetspot.
Looks nice, but isn't.

I've been trying to complete a no death run in this game and I got one from the Syan Soldier in the path to No Man's Wharf. It's worth mentioning that it must be a very rare drop because that halberd was the first and only one I got in more than 30 runs.
This halberd, is dope. It's like an empowered spear with it's thrusting moveset. Absolutely love it.

This halberd has the best hybrid move set. That 2HR1 sweep is a moneymaker in pvp

Would be cool if u could improvise the same AoE lighting attack as the Drangleic knights do.

I just want to note that when this weapon is 2-handed it becomes unparryable with both R1 and R2 move-sets as long as it is 2-handed. The 1-handed R1 and R2 move-sets can still be parried.
Farming this will make you go hollow
