Hints and Tips:

  • Upgraded with Twinkling Titanite to +5. Cannot be infused.
  • Dex dedicated version of Shadow Dagger, moveset is identical to Mytha's Bent Blade.
  • Unfortunately, being a dagger designed for backstabbing its basic swing damage is the lowest of all maxed-out daggers.

The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].
This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".

The only dagger with S scaling is a rare drop from a DLC enemy. I think it's safe to say that the dagger class is the red-headed stepchild of this game.

Just did some light testing on the syan knights, since they’re easy to parry.

This dagger is likely the best option available for counter attacks of any kind on obscenely high dex builds (75 or so and above). At 80dex, 15str, ring of blades+2, a maxed flynn’s, and (I’m not sure if this effects anything) an old leo ring, the umbral+5 does roughly 300 more damage on backstabs than a +10 dagger. And only loses about 70 damage over the dagger on ripostes and guard breaks. Plus it still out-riposte-damages other high damage dex weapons like the espada ropera on all fronts, even though the espada has 10 more in the counter stat, and nearly twice the AR. Mind you these are on armored opponents, if someone wanted to convert those to percentages I’m sure you could transfer that over to other enemies.

It does on the other hand, with the aforementioned stats and rings, lose about 18 AR when compared to the regular dagger. Meaning, especially at lower dex, the regular dagger is likely a better choice for regular attacks.

tl;dr: if you have around 75 dex or more, use this. It does unrivaled backstab damage (unless you have obscene str and a grandlance) and loses minimal riposte damage over other options. If you want a good reposte/backstab sidearm on your high dex build, this is it.

        • Crit hits in this game are garbage because even though they have higher crit multipliers***** * 1.75] is still dominated by [Mega Dumb Gigantic Greatsword's attack *1.15]
