Vessel Shield is a standard shield in Dark Souls 2. DLC or Downloadable Content shields cannot be obtained in the original version of the game, Dark Souls 2.

Acquired From

  • Grand Cathedral, after defrosting the zone, it is the only chest in the Cathedral (after you've unfrozen everything just walk back towards the bonfire and you should see it). 

 

Hints and Tips

  • Upgraded with titanite to +10.
  • Increases Vigor, Endurance, Adaptability, Faith and Intelligence by 1 and Strength and Dexterity by 4 when wielded.
  • Can deflect spells when it parries.

Parameter Bonus: Strength, Dexterity,Magic, Fire, Lightning and Dark bonuses - The scaling multiplier applied to the [Attack: stat]. Scaling quality is from highest to lowest as follows: S/A/B/C/D/E.
The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].
This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".
Durability: The weapon's HP, when the durability hits 0, the effectiveness of its attacks become weakened to the point of almost uselessness. When an items durability is low, a message will come up saying "Weapon At Risk!" at this point the weapon does not perform at it's best.
Weight: How much the item weights when equipped.
Stability: How well the player keeps stance after being hit
Attack Type: Defines what kind of swing set the weapon has.

      After playing through SL negative 44 l'm here to tell ya all that SL1 is OP. Oh boy I have 12 ADP on a good day. This thing is GOAT, + Cale Helm + Dex Ring = 5 Str 12 Dex, just enough for Rapier, raw infused of course. Side Note : Reinforced Club > Mace (it allows you to wear crown (not go hollow) but at that point game is probs already done).. Still Kings Crown + Ring of Wisdom for 10 faith so you can attune some incesed heals (or any other miracle lowered to 10 faith requirement) l didnt do any of this, firebombs are your main damage till you get pyro, then you use pyro till you can prompt swap forbidden sun for 22 casts (60 if balm+chaos hood or crown is used). Then you plow your game to Avaa, die a lot even tho you have like 22 forbidden suns so you get this amazing shield and finally wield Rapier, at that point Rapier > Pyromancy. Good luck my madmans hihii

        I can’t even with this shield... it’s so broken. It’s increase to VIG, END, and ADP, the Ring of the Embedded give 7 points in VIG, END, and VIT, and the Rapier doing the insane amount of damage it does, makes DS2 the easiest SoulsBorne game to SL1 hands down.

          In my game, this shield doesn't work properly... I don't have the levels bonuses. Maybe there have been a patch or something else who fix/changes that...

            It equals to 13 levels. Spell parry can parry physical attacks too. What is the downside? Just weight? I mean, especially at high levels and if you don't use any shields and are not dual-wielded, then this is insane. Am I wrong? Never knew such a thing existed in this game.
