Witchtree Bellvine is a weapon in Dark Souls 2.

Witchtree bellvine that sprouts amongst old growth. A catalyst for miracles and hexes.

Clerics who were ostracized devised this as an alternative catalyst for casting miracles.
Most clerics who were stripped of their status are good-for-nothings, but among them are powerful spell casters who represented real threats to the establishment.

Although not a proper catalyst, the bellvine is quite powerful.

Acquired From

  • The Witchtree Chime is obtained through the Forgotten Door in the well in Majula. After obtaining the Forgotten Key from the giants in Black Gulch, descend down the ladder into the well, and climb up the metal ladder on the landing. The room has three chests, holding Soul Vortex, the Witchtree Branch and Chime, and the Great Lightning Spear spell.
  • You can acquire the Chime earlier by dropping from the pit using the planks. After reaching the last platform right before the first cave opening, drop from the right side of the plank to fall on the platform where the metal ladder is located. Use the Silvercat Ring and lower your equip load to reduce fall damage. Note: You will still need the Forgotten Key to access the room.

Hints and Tips:

  • Priest's Chime is better for pure miracle casters due to its higher casting speed. Therefore, this chime is generally only useful to those who attack with hexes at least some of the time. It sacrifices the casting speed for better hex power.
  • While the game gives an "A" scaling to lightning and a "C" scaling to darkness for both the Witchtree Bellvine and the Priest's Chime, the latter get better returns on lightning (@+6 123 vs 137) and the former on darkness (@+6 37 vs 23, both example from the same character at the same time).
  • For those interested in Lightning Infusion, at Lightning +10, the Witchtree slightly (about 15-20 damage rating) out-damages the Priest's Chime. The Priest's Chime has a higher cast speed, however.
  • Upgraded with regular Titanite
  • 390 lightning bns with 50 faith.

The cast speed argument in the description in favor of the Priest's Chime is moot if you're holding the Witchtree Branch in the other hand.

      • Actually the worst chime in the game (chime of screams looks cool), unlike the witchtree branch it isn't the fastest chime, it has terrible damage, and the chimes that are faster DO MORE DAMAGE. I mean, why fromsoftware, why?

        • Anonymous

Aside from the Chime of Screams, this seems to be the worst chime in the game. Cleric's and Priest's chimes at least have the purpose of being early game items and at end game all other chimes fulfill some purpose, except for this one.

for hexers it looks like the archdrake chime is better in every way unless you have less than 22 faith or frequently use offensive miracles

This wiki and the item description leads you to believe this talisman is optimum for healing and buffs because of its of the reduced casting time. Well sorry to break it to ya. It's really not that much improvement. About .4 to .5 secs faster for healing and buffs. Maybe .1 secs faster for lightning Spears. In my opinion definitely not worth it. Worst talisman in the game.
