Estus Flask

estus flask

Fill it with Estus at a bonfire, and drink from it to restore HP.

Estus Flask is a health recovery Item in Dark Souls 2 (DKS2)Estus Flask, a mysterious green glass bottle, can be filled with Estus at a bonfire and consumed to restore HP. Consumable Items grant various effects such as restorative properties for recovering HP, removing certain negative status effects, applying temporary buffs and debuffs, as well as activating various actions and effects.

A green glass bottle of unknown make. Fill it with Estus at a bonfire, and drink from it to restore HP.
The nature of the link between the Estus flasks and the bonfires that illuminate the world of the Undead is entirely unknown.
But that is of little concern, for any Undead knows the value of these precious flasks.

Dark Souls 2 Estus Flask Usage

Healing item. Upgraded with two separate items:

Can be taken to the Emerald Herald in Majula to allow for more uses of the flask (one shard allows one extra use, 12 flasks max)

Increases the amount that each sip of the flask heals. To use it, burn at the Bonfire in Majula. (Maximum is +5)

  • Going to New Game+ does not increase the maximum limit.

Pressing the action button repeatedly whilst the bottle is at the mouth of the player allows multiple drinks to be taken without the bottle being put away. This can allow for rapid health regeneration.
You can also drink while on a ladder.

Higher agility allows characters to use the Estus Flask with greater speed, meaning the player is exposed for less time while using it.
At 90 Agility and lower, an Estus Flask takes 68 frames (2.267 seconds) to use.
At 95 Agility, it takes 63 frames (2.1 seconds).
At 100 Agility and higher, it takes 58 frames (1.933 seconds).

I always love seeing old comments on this page complaining about this flask lol, it's not a bad Flask, if anything, it's one of the best in the series... People back then and still to this day if they're new, don't level ADP so they chug REALLY slowly and also don't space enemies out and die chugging in front of a swinging enemy... This flask is busted op in the right hands, you could literally be mid chug, see a late game boss about to hit you, chug 1/2 more charges quickly and tank the boss hit, plus reach full HP before you recover from the hit... This Flask allows you to undo your bad timing by spamming it and stacking the healing effect should you somehow do that...

Just started a new a game. Not speaking with that woman, so no estus in invontory, dingleberry in invontory

Nothing can stop me now, expect 9hp damage per scalp! Arfhghgft!

Lmao I literally didn't even know you could upgrade these, I thought they just scaled with your level or something. Got all the way to the Dragon Shrine without upgrading my Estus Flask even once.

Sometimes I drink the estus but I get no hp. The character even does the full animation, but doesn't heal up and I have to drink again to heal. I have also seen this happening to some streamers. Does someone know what's happening?

Extremely suicidal to use in the middle of a battle. Double-chug or use lifegems instead, but don't risk a single chug in front of anyone.

I love this game truly, with hundreds of hours, but having to stand still for so long to heal in a game that just throws in super aggressive enemies is one of the worst design choices in this game

I wonder what triggers the recharging of estus flask during combat, It already happens to me several times but I just can't figure out how
