Chime of Want is a Sacred Chime and one of the available Weapons in Dark Souls 2. Chime of Want has the same power as Caitha's Chime but scales slightly better with a slower attack speed. The Chime of Want has the ability to cast both Miracles and Hexes. When fully upgraded and infused with dark, it has the highest raw dark damage of any of the chimes.

Original:

Sacred chime created from the soul of Nashandra.

Greatly amplifies spells.

The old one of the Abyss was reborn in death, split into miniscule fragments, and spread across the land.

The tiniest of these pieces, precisely due to its size, was the first to restore its form.

Scholar of the First Sin changed to:

Sacred chime created from the soul of Nashandra.

The old one of the Abyss was reborn in death, split into miniscule fragments, and spread across the land.

After taking their shapes, they courted monarchs of considerable power, which they desired to make their own.

How to get Chime of Want in Dark Souls 2

DS2 Chime of Want Hints and Tips

  • This chime has the same power as Caitha's Chime but scales slightly better with a slower attack speed. However, it has the ability to cast miracles in addition to hexes.
  • When fully upgraded, the Chime of Want appears to be tied with a fully upgraded Caitha's Chime for highest dark damage and dark damage scaling. However, the "S" scaling is not equal, and the Chime of Want gives a larger bonus to dark damage than Caitha's Chime. The Chime of Want therefore has the highest raw dark damage of any of the chimes.
  • At 40/40 int/faith with both fully upgraded and infused with dark, Chime of Want has 32 more Dark Bonus. However Caitha's Chime has a casting speed of 145 compared to Chime of Want with only 130.

Wiki has some misleading info... This chimes IS THE BEST for dark casters, the bonus from dark is superior to Caitha's Chime, just tested it.

        50 INT, 50 FTH
        Abyss Seal, Dark Clutch Ring
        Great Resonant Soul

        Dark Chime of Caitha +10:
        1055 damage versus Giant Lord

        Dark Chime of Want +5:
        1150 damage versus Giant Lord

I would recommend it against caitha (dark infused of course). Yes, caitha is faster but:

1- 130 vs 145 is not much when having blue +2 clearstone ring with high SL.

2- most hexes with chime casts souls so in the long run it can be troublesome.

3- You can cast miracles and heal so you can have a good mix.

4- it's stronger. I use lifedrain patch with 20 int and 65 fth and it can still make decent damage.

It is significantly weaker than the Dragon chime for lightning dame, so lightning infusion not recommended, but the best dark chime nearly matches dark infused caitha's chime while uninfused.

            Chime of want +5 250+241
Dark Chime of want +5 287+278
            Dark Caitha Chime +10 287+214

Those are with 65 Int and Faith. I tested the damage against the Giant Lord, and the uninfused chime of want does almost the same damage as the infused caitha.

Dark Caitha +5 does 946, Chime of want 932, Dark Chime of want 1040.

I would say it is worth it even farming the dragon scales in Alda's keep seems faster than farming other shards. Unfortunately it's really late game so can only be used for the DLC's and NG+

On a 50 faith/30 intelligence build, try infusing this with lightning! It has a decent split between both elements, and it saves you the pain of constantly switching weapons/spell tools. (This might not work to well if you prefer to maximize your damage, or want to use hexes that need a staff....)

So, when fighting the Giant Lord at Bonfire Intensity 5, after dying about 4 times (i had bad dodge timing on his sweeping attack), I did about 600 damage with Resonant Soul at 40 Faith and 28 Int. I was using this chime (Dark Infusion), wearing the Tseldora set, and wearing Cloranthy Ring, Third Dragon Ring, Silver Serpent Ring +1, and Gold Serpent Ring +1. After dying yet again, I went to the Shrine of Amana to restore my humanity, seeing as i had run out of Effigies, and after returning to try again (Drummond in tow), I only did about 450 damage with Resonant Soul. The only difference from the first fight to the second was the presence of Drummon, and humanity being restored, so unless there's hollow scaling, there's no obvious explanation for this. Maybe you could look into it?
