Weapons in Dark Souls 2 are a strategic and important choice for the player. The player will be encouraged to discover and deeply learn a weapon that suits their style of play and preference, with subtle parameters affecting the weapon's performance in combat. If you would like to learn more about each weapon, visit their page, or check out the combat page for specific explanations on how to master the game.

How to choose a weapon in Dark Souls 2?

Players create builds around specific weapons that have good movesets, deal significant damage, or are easily obtained. Some players choose weapons for their cosmetic appearance, but in most cases it is advisable to refer to the scaling and upgrading path of weapons to determine if the output is beneficial to the character in pve, pvp or both. The following categories of weapons have details on their base damage, and all individual pages feature infusion charts, with some extending to full moveset videos.

I know DS1, DS3 and Bloodborne inside out and despite this game being my first I’m seeing so many weapons for the first time here which is fascinating. I really didn’t give DS2 enough time.

A lot of the weapons in this game were really creative and cool, and should have been carried over into ds3. Crypt blacksword, at least 1 twinblade, bewitched alonne sword, sanctum crossbow, loyce greatsword, bone fist, and ivory king greatsword all were weapons I would have loved to see in ds3

Just a side note. If you mod saves, try infusing chimes and staves with poison in the save editor. It takes effect in game. Not only does it add poison damage it greatly boosts the entire stats and scaling. Bleed is equivalent to it. All others improves stats a little bit

Greatsword when using two hands sometimes slash no hit on the enemy when they move round to the left or right. Is this a bug?

After playing the remaster and DS3 down to the very bone, I thought it was time to try this game out. Any weapon recommendations for someone running blindly into this game?

Very important info for low soul memory players is the locations of ready upgraded weapons. It should be in clear view on this wiki but it is not. This website is preventing me from linking to a reddit page listing all the ready upgraded weapons. So there is the list typed out below: Partizan +6 Brume Collapsing floor area Scythe +7 Brume Ladder near first bonfire Caestus +8 Brume Upper Floor bonfire Broadsword +7 Brume Near Iron Warrior door room Alonne Greatbow +5 Brume Near Maldron Winged Spear +7 Eleum Loyce Dog courtyard Priests Chime +8 Eleum Loyce Near Frozen Stairs Large Club +7 Eleum Loyce White Covetous Demon Long Bow +7 Shulva Past 1st group of Sanctum archers Notched Whip +7 Shulva Weird Repair Tre Lightning Short Bow +1 Iron Keep Eygil's Idol

Arguably the most important info for low Soul Memory players. This needs to be placed up front on this wiki. Cheers

The retainers’ staff is missing from this list; it is dropped from the mages in the Ivory Crown DLC (Confirmed on NG+)
