Faintstone is a type of Upgrade Material in Dark Souls 2 (DKS2). Faintstone, a transformed version of titanite. Employ it to infuse weapons with magic or to grant magic resistance to shields. Sorcerers at the Melfian Magic Academy once endeavored to enchant titanite with diverse elements, though their attempts are rumored to have met with failure. Upgrade Materials are items that are used to strengthen the statistical value and to increase the effect of a certain piece of equipment.

Sorcerers at the Melfian Magic Academy once attempted to imbue titanite with various elements, but are said to have failed. Someone must have succeeded though; what else would explain this stone?
Faintstone Usage in Dark Souls 2
- Can only be used at Blacksmith Steady Hand McDuff.
- Imbues weapons with magic or provides magic reduction to shields.
DKS2 Faintstone Location
- One of the items that can be received from The Sparkling Sisters Dyna and Tillo in exchange for a Smooth and Silky Stone.
- One can be obtained in the Dragon Shrine, on the corpse near the Priest who casts the lightning orbs at you.
- Doors of Pharros, first Pharros' contraption after going up the ladder will unlock a path below it with a chest containing one and a Twinkling Titanite.
- 3 are available for purchase from Stone Trader Chloanne after having the King's Ring.
Faintstone Drops from in DKS2
- Basilisks (Early farming in the game possible from the 1st Basilisk that spawns after depetrifying Rosabeth on the route to Shaded Woods. There is a very convenient bonfire located in the same room, allowing for farming)
- Leydia Witches
- Leydia Pyromancers ( Can be farmed infinitely by ringing the bell before the boss fog gate. )
- Dragon Knights ( From Dragon Shrine )

Allows a weapon to deal physical damage, but using INT to scale. Handy for a heavy INT build that needs a weapon which doesn't deal magic damage, and can sometimes be better than Raw.

The drop rate on these is RIDICULOUS. I literally killed every basilisk in the entire game with full farming gear and not a single one dropped.

Better off farming the ones in Things Betwixt than the one near Rosabeth. Dear me.
