Great Club is a Great Hammer in Dark Souls 2. Great Club is a Great Hammer that can be upgraded with regular Titanite and cannot be infused with Bleed. While its design is simple, it proves highly effective, especially against common shields.
A giant wooden club made from branches of a towering tree.
Designed to smash foes. Simple but terribly effective against common shields.
How to get Great Club in DS2
- Found in a chest in the lower area of The Gutter: After the second bonfire, head down to the bottom of the gutter, once you hit dirt before going to the black gulch, there is a ladder to climb up that leads you to the chest with the Great Club inside.
Dark Souls 2 Great Club Hints and Tips
- Upgraded with regular Titanite.
- Cannot be infused with Bleed.
- At Normal +10 with 50 Strength this weapon has an Attack Rating of 567 (420+147), which is better than the Large Club at same stats (has 546 AR).
- The Large Club and Great Club, both at 70 durability, have their durability go down really fast. Probably better suited for bosses or used with the Bracing Knuckle Ring.
- Despite its massive size and weight this weapon and similar weapons in the class actually have amazing directional control which can be used to catch opponents approach from your rear completely off guard. To do so, you must be un-locked and initiate the attack in the opposite direction you want it to land - as soon as the attack begins, move the directional pad (or mouse) to the opposite side of the character.
- Can be power stanced with the Large Club

The higher the player's [Str, Dex, Mag, Fire, Light] stat, the higher the [Attack Bonus: Stat] is (found on the player status screen). The higher the scaling letter, the higher the percent multiplier applied to the [Attack: Stat].
This resulting bonus damage is added to the base physical damage of the weapon and is shown in the equipment screen in blue numbers as a "+ X".

Look, we can talk all day about optimal stats, damage per second, equip loads, and all that junk, but it doesn't matter. What matters is the pure joy and satisfaction of using a big-ass tree branch to flatten Alonne Knights like Bugs Bunny. #bonklife

I tested the 2 handed pancakes in SOTFS edition on PC. It lost 1 durability against hollow infantry and basilisks but against heide knights it lost 5 durability. Not sure why, could be that it loses more durability against heavily armored enemies.

the best weapon in every souls game is always a big stick covered in **** you found in a sewer and I wouldn't have it any other way

This really seems to outperform a lot of other, heavier weapons out there for strength builds, even if the AR stat says otherwise. The 2H R2 pancake move is just so insanely good. I’ve found between this and the homunculus mace (for situations where a quicker weapon is ideal) there’s no reason to use any other weapon besides boredom

Powerstancing 2 of these might not be the best combo but lord does it feel so right

Have this on my SL1 and it does the same damage infused raw as my dragons tooth on my other character with 60 strength. Not that I'm complaining but why level up, lol.

You can get another Great Club easily (for power stancing) if you bonfire ascetic the second bonfire in The Gutter (the one half way down, called Central Gutter). The club is in a wooden chest, not metal, so it respawns when you use the ascetic.

Best, most overpowered weapon in the game, found in a gutter, looks like a tree branch.
Great game design, really, good job nerfing all the beautiful, well-designed weapons so we can all bash things with a wooden stick, FROM.
