Infantry is an enemy in Dark Souls 2 (DKS2). Enlisted infantrymen of the Drangleic Army, these brave but lightly-equipped men, locked in combat with the Giants in flashback areas, display weariness from battle and diminishing morale. They may also misidentify the player as a threat. Enemies have their own behavior and unique attacks, killing enemies provide various drops that reward players with items and souls.

Why are they even hostile? I thought they were only worried about the giants? I make my characters extra chonky but not 12 feet tall and 5 metric tons

It'd be cool to have some sort of special mechanic to identify you as friendly. Maybe they could have make it so that they stop attacking you after you talk with Drummond.
